Research Associate for the Project “OK Energy” concerned with ocean eddies § 28 Subsection 3 HmbHG

Your responsibilities:

• Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
• The project is concerned with the analysis of novel SWOT altimeter data to gain insight into small-scale ocean dynamics and turbulence covering global and regional ocean flow aspects. To this extent, SWOT data will be analyzed with respect to their sub-mesoscale eddy content and will be used to constrain a high-resolution ocean circulation model through data assimilation. The successful candidate will use the data insight and the output of the model to improve our understanding of sub-mesoscale ocean dynamics.

Your profile:

• A university degree in a relevant field, plus doctorate.
• PhD in physical oceanography, meteorology, applied mathematics or physics. Experiences in either microwave remote sensing, numerical modeling or data assimilation is desirable.
