Chair and Institute of Urban and Transport Planning
At the Institute for Urban and Transport Planning (ISB), an interdisciplinary team teaches and conducts research on the future of cities and mobility. The topics covered by the institute range from urban structures and the organization of mobility and transport to the design of specific components of transport infrastructure. Current key challenges such as climate change, scarcity of resources and social issues are paramount for the ISB’s work. Moreover, the ISB works on technological and organizational innovations such as electric vehicle mobility, automation and the sharing economy, which offer solutions to existing problems, and can inspire new developments. The ISB’s research revolves around integrating this kind of innovation into existing urban or transport structures, thus contributing to solutions for existing challenges. The Institute’s topics include planning of infrastructure and mobility management, as well as projecting the opportunities, risks and impacts of new technologies and services.
The position requires:
We offer you the opportunity to make an important contribution to transport statistical methods and transport modeling by working on research projects. You will be involved in the further development of the basis for political and planning decisions for a sustainable transportation system. Your research tasks will include the expansion of modeling methods using statistical or AI-based approaches. A willingness to publish scientifically and to take on teaching duties is a prerequisite.
The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract. The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of two years initially. Afterwards, it is intended to extend the contract for at least one year and up to a total of five years. The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts). This is a full-time position. The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position. The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L) and corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
