The following challenges await you:
- As R&D Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for developing, characterizing, and evaluating next-generation coating methods for polymers and metals, including electrochemical methods (galvanostatic/potentiostatic methods) and implementing these for biomedical applications.
- You will independently plan and execute Technology Development projects and implement them within the Heraeus Medevio Operations Environment.
- You will collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, legal/IP, and other internal stakeholders to align on development targets, ensure technical and commercial feasibility, and intellectual property protection.
- You will identify solutions for technical challenges of our customers, making sure to keep the focus on their unmet needs and matching with our business strategy.
- You will build and be part of a strong cross-functional network with internal and external partners to drive results.
- In addition, you will represent Heraeus Medevio at our customers, scientific events, research institutes, and other external partnerships.
Your Profile:
- Master's degree, preferably Ph.D., in chemistry (e.g. polymers), chemical engineering, material science, or a related field.
- Expertise in electrochemistry and experience in electrochemical technologies, including an in-depth understanding and application of electrochemical methods for the characterization and modification of functional surfaces.
- Understanding of corrosion characterization methods is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of Innovation/Technology Development Project Management.
- Previous hands-on experience in laboratory experimentation and manufacturing.
- Experience in the medical device industry and/or understanding of material/biological interfaces.
- Understanding of polymer materials and coating technology.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Capable of communicating technical information, for example, through technical documentation and operating procedures, and delivering complex technical concepts to a broad audience in both German and English.
- Proficiency in designing experiments (DOE) for multi-factorial experimentation and knowledge of statistical techniques (e.g. T-test, ANOVA, significance testing) to support data-driven decisions.
- Desire for continuous improvement and understanding of the need for change.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, collaboration, and adaptability across disciplines and cultures.
- Ability to coach and mentor lab personnel and team members (informally or formally).
