DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Quality Director for the Power Division is responsible to:
- Develop and deploy the quality strategy to fulfill the global quality mission in the division.
- Participate in internal and external escalated issues with significant impact to customer satisfaction or risk to the division.
- Define and drive relevant quality KPIs in the division to support the strategic improvements needed of the business and the function.
- Set aggressive quality goals for the Power manufacturing plants and product lines through benchmarking and business/functional needs in specific areas.
- Collaborate with the business leadership team to drive improvements in the New Product Development process to ensure flawless launches with zero quality escapes and on time.
- Implement best practices and lessons learned across the division, including manufacturing plants, design sites, and applicable business functions.
- Establish a quality review cadence at all levels of the division under the direction of the Global Quality function and the needs of the Power division.
- Improve quality systems, standards, and methods through internal and external benchmarking.
- Educate, train, and develop the quality team within the division to achieve results-oriented, top performance.
- Participate in budget planning and operational compliance with it.
- Ensure the proper execution of the Quality Management System in all plants, design sites, and business functions of the Division.
- Drive zero defect, built-in quality mentality with strong focus on the customer.
- Develop an effective supplier base that ensures raw materials and assemblies meet the requirements of the Bourns quality system.
- Follow company policies, rules, procedures, and goals.
- Other relevant activities as directed by the VP of Global Quality and the President of the Power Division.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: The Quality Director must be able to deal effectively in a global, multicultural organization including dealing with executives, employees outside of their home country, and with a global customer and supply chain base.
COMMUNICATIONS:
ORAL: The Quality Director Power should have excellent negotiation, influence, and communication skills. Should also be able to present complex quality matters and data in a clear and professional manner to senior executives and customers.
WRITTEN: The Quality Director of the Power Division must have the ability to communicate complex quality issues clearly and concisely in English. The Quality Director of the Power Division must be able to prepare understandable and effective reports, emails, analysis, and letters to multiple stakeholders within the Company, communications to, and agreements with, Company customers, executives, suppliers, and subcontractors in all aspects of quality-related matters, and effectively document divisional and global processes and procedures.
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is required. Strong preference in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial engineering areas; Masters Degree is a plus.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must have 10+ years of quality-related experience in a global manufacturing environment, including a minimum of 3+ years working in a leadership position managing directly or indirectly multiple sites.
- Must have 3+ years of experience working and interacting with product line or divisional level multifunctional teams including design engineering, product management, and general managers. Has working knowledge and is considered subject matter expert in some of the key quality tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, Capability Index, QFD, error-proofing.
- Must have strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills. As a minimum, the candidate must demonstrate full proficiency in the use of the 8D methodology. Working knowledge of problem-solving techniques such as Shainin or DMAIC will be considered a plus.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate a good understanding of fact-based decision-making and proficient use of root cause analysis applied to quality management and business process improvement.
- Must have working knowledge implementing/improving quality systems such as ISO 9001:2015/IATF 16949, AEC-Q standards, VDA 6.3, and systemic improvements across multiple sites. Experience with ISO 16355 QFD will be considered a plus.
- Working knowledge of new product development process and how the quality organization interacts early in the design and validation process is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of business/operational excellence principles will be considered a plus. Require some experience leading or participating in the business, or functional, strategic planning process.
- Some Experience in technical areas such as design engineering, test engineering, or reliability engineering, as well as in operational or continuous improvement functions, is preferred.
- Certifications from quality professional organizations such as Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence from the American Society of Quality (ASQ) will be considered a plus. Lead auditor certification for ISO 9001:2015/IATF 16949 will also be considered a plus.
