The "International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre" (ISC3) is managed by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and the German Environment Agency (UBA).
The ISC3 fosters the transition of the chemical and chemical-related sectors to Sustainable Chemistry, promoting a circular economy that implements multifaceted aspects of sustainability at every step of the life cycle of products, engaging all stakeholders accordingly.
Your tasks:
- Technical and financial responsibility of the activity field focus topics, including monitoring of key performance indicators.
- Coordinating and developing focus topics using Sustainable Chemistry as a driver for sustainable innovations and transformation in close coordination with all departments of ISC3.
- Initiating and devising innovations and new projects in the field of Sustainable Chemistry based on current scientific and technical developments and trends.
- Technical advising and collaborating with all departments of ISC3 and external stakeholders on Sustainable Chemistry and focus topics.
- Composing key publications such as white papers and factsheets in close cooperation with subcontractors and departments of ISC3.
- Developing and realizing awareness-raising and training formats for Sustainable Chemistry and focus topics.
- Coordinating the development of academic and non-academic teaching materials for partners worldwide.
- Screening, contracting, and steering of national and international subcontractors.
- Networking and cooperating with key stakeholders worldwide and ensuring the transfer of knowledge and technology at national and international levels.
- Presenting ISC3 knowledge at international conferences.
- Assisting in the acquisition of third-party funds.
- Cooperating closely with the communication department to make expertise accessible to stakeholders and the public.
Your profile:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in chemical engineering, process engineering, or technical chemistry; a Doctor of Philosophy is desirable.
- Many years of experience in the field of sustainability for chemical or chemical-related sectors.
- Several years of professional experience in research and development in chemical or chemical-related sectors.
- Several years of pertinent industry/economy experience.
- Several years of experience in project management.
- Experience in linking up industrial key players and advising start-ups is an advantage, as well as experience in cooperation with international organizations and planning of large-scale projects.
- A broad understanding of Sustainable Chemistry, Green Chemistry, Circular Economy, and clean technologies, as well as of the international and transformational debate is an advantage.
- Demonstration of a strong professional profile in external representation, along with a willingness to shape and connect across various networks.
- Interdisciplinary mindset, ability to cooperate and work in a team, a high degree of initiative, willingness to take responsibility, strong communicative skills; independent working method and high analytical competence.
- Fluent in English and German; another UN-language is preferable.
Notes: This position is suited to a full or part-time position. The willingness for frequent (international) business trips is required.
