Professorship (W2) for Post-Production Management and Editing

Your duties include

• Representation of the field of post-production management and editing, primarily in the Production Management Film and TV (PMF) degree program at the Faculty of Media
• Teaching courses in post-production management, editing, visual effects, color correction, sound design, music, mixing, and related topics
• Support and advice on design, planning and technical implementation audiovisual media productions and other project work with a special focus on the areas of editing and post-production for students of the Faculty of Media
• Research and development activities
• Proactive acquisition of third-party funding through research and transfer activities
• Practice-oriented teaching in the subject areas both in German and in English and also using digital formats (e-learning, blended learning)
• Content-specific and strategic further development of the subject areas with special focus on digitization
• High-quality supervision of practical assignments, Bachelor's and Master's theses as well as doctorates
• Involvement in setting up new international partnerships and maintaining existing ones
• Active and interdisciplinary involvement in administering academic affairs

You offer

• Preferably an academic university degree in the field of film, television, media production or a related field (Bachelor's and Master's degrees)
• Above-average professional qualifications and several years of experience as an editor and/or postproduction supervisor and, ideally, also in other areas of post-production of film and television productions, especially in leading and/or budget-responsible positions
• Excellent knowledge in the areas of image and sound post-production as well as film editing
• Extensive design knowledge and experience in editing audiovisual media productions
• Sound knowledge of modern editing software and technologies (e.g. Avid, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve)
• Knowledge of general and agile project management (PMBOK, SCRUM, Kanban) as well as the tools and solutions commonly used in the industry (MS Project, Gantt Project, Trello,...) is desirable
• Experience with productions for new media, digital platforms and formats as well as interactive and immersive media productions is also desirable
• Experience in teaching at universities or comparable educational institutions
• Networks in the film and TV industry, contacts to editorial offices, funding institutions and film production companies
• Very good German and English proficiency and ability and willingness to teach in German and in English
• Enthusiasm for passing on your practical experience in teaching applied research to our students as future junior academics
• Enjoyment of communication and creative cooperation with aspiring media professionals
• Organizational talent as well as motivation and the ability to work in a team in order to jointly participate in the shape of our faculty

Recruitment pursuant to Article 57 (3) of the BayHIG

• Completed university degree, preferably in the field of film, television, media production or a related field
• Pedagogical aptitude
• Excellent academic achievements in research and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent academic qualification
• Special achievements in the application or development of academic knowledge and methods in a minimum of five years of work experience, which must have been acquired after completion of the university degree and of which at least three years must have been acquired outside the university sector. If, over a period of at least five years, a considerable portion of your work involved a cooperation between a university and a non-academic employer, this time may be considered to meet the requirements for non-academic work experience in special cases (pursuant to Article 57 (3) Sentence 1 No. 3 of the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG)).
