With around 400 students and about 50 colleagues in academia and services, Karlshochschule International University in Karlsruhe is an innovative non-profit university. Karlshochschule places great importance on the personality development of its students. Thus, we are offering service learning and fostering civic engagement. The didactic principle of the university is to offer integrated, interactive, and constructivist teaching and thus we are working for instance with case studies, role plays, simulations, and project work.
Our Management Faculty focuses on research and teaching in the interplay of managerial practices, symbolic meanings, institutional logics, social context and global challenges. We are open for and interested in various approaches and theories such as practice theory, critical theory, discourse theory, cultural studies, poststructuralist approaches, gender theory, systems theory, critical management studies and consumer culture theory. Methodologically, we are likewise pluralistic using a range of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods.
For the next possible date, we are looking for a:
Professor in the area of Cultural Theory and Creative Practices (f/m/d)
Your critical approach, creative potential and research interests are reflected in your scholarly activities and your creative work and incorporated in your teaching. A focus on and practical experiences in the motion picture industry are heavily welcome. You should be open to teach at different locations of the university with a focus on Potsdam. A part-time professorship is possible.
We are looking for a candidate with the following profile:
- deep commitment to the university mission and the academic profile of the management faculty and engaged work with our international faculty and student body
- engagement in both applied and critical teaching and research in the areas of your academic and practical expertise
- expertise to work with diverse, international and multicultural student groups
- willingness and preferably experience in raising third-party funds
- proven track record in civic engagement and/or practical working experiences as well as an international biography being fluent or native speaker to lecture in English
You should be willing to:
- engage actively, creatively and joyfully in our academic community and become part of Karls' everyday life and living culture
- teach high-quality courses on both undergraduate, graduate and executive level in your area of expertise according to a HAW (University of Applied Science) professorship
- contribute to our Creativity and Management degree program, in particular courses in cultural theory, movie production and/or mentoring in creative practices but also support of students and lecturers, further academic development, public outreach, and development of relevant networks
- participate in the strategic development of the university, especially through the development of future study programs
- contribute to joint research projects, e.g. citizen science projects, and/or projects at the intersection of research and the arts
