The Institute of History and Ethics in Medicine (IHEM) is part of the School of Medicine and Health at the Technical University of Munich. At the Institute, we advance ethical practice and theory in medicine, biomedical technology, and public health, driven by the belief that embedding ethics is essential for shaping the future of healthcare, science, technology, society, and the environment.
Our mission encompasses both theoretical and empirical methods to foster ethical, transparent, and interdisciplinary research, education, and policy. The Institute works on an interdisciplinary basis and is highly networked both nationally and internationally.
About the position
For the research project "Advancing health data justice: A comparative study of health-related data governance in Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom" (ADJUST), we are looking for a 100% postdoctoral research associate (TVöL-13) beginning as soon as possible in 2025, for a term of three years.
The project will develop and apply the idea of "health data justice", focusing on controlling who gets to access and use health-related data, specifically addressing the needs of marginalized communities.
The project will explore policies, conduct interviews, and engage communities in three countries: Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. This position will conduct the empirical research for the German team, including health policy analysis, interviews with marginalized communities, and refining the health data justice framework within the German context.
