Job description: PhD Student (f/m/d) Spectroscopy of telecom quantum emitters in SiC

With cutting-edge research in the fields of ENERGY, HEALTH and MATTER, around 1,500 employees from more than 70 nations at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) are committed to mastering the great challenges facing society today.

The Institute for Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research is dedicated to the study of materials and their nanostructures that can be considered for future applications in information technology and are based on electrical, magnetic or optical functionalities.

The Department of Quantum Technologies is looking for a PhD Student (f/m/d) Spectroscopy of telecom quantum emitters in SiC (subject to final approval by the project sponsor).

  1. Planning and execution of experiments on confocal microscopy of quantum emitters
  2. Analysis and modelling of the experimental data
  3. Carrying out literature research
  4. Publication and presentation of scientific results

Your profile:

  1. Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in Physics, Engineering Physics or a related subject area obtained with above-average qualifications
  2. Good skills in experimental physics
  3. Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment
  4. Written and spoken English
  5. Python and/or Labview programming skills
