PDI (Pre-delivery Inspection) Senior Specialist

About the role:

• Due to the expansion of our activities, BYD Europe is looking for a PDI Senior Specialist to work in the vehicle logistics department. In this position, you will play an important role in monitoring and implementing the pre-delivery inspection tasks on inbound and outbound vehicles to the whole of Europe and some other markets as well. You will handle scalable vehicle movements and deliveries.

• As a PDI Senior Specialist, you are responsible for providing quality assurance of vehicle deliveries. You will work collaboratively with different logistics service providers and compounds to implement, control, and report the pre-delivery inspection on the new inbound vehicles, dwelled vehicles, and outbound vehicles. Your work will generate a timely, complete, and quality vehicle flow throughout the supply chain from HQ/factory to our dealers/end consumers all over Europe. You will work with a team of logistics professionals and PDI coordinators as well as many other enthusiastic colleagues holding the same green dreams. Your role is key to the smooth and quality level of deliveries as well as contributing to continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Plan, instruct, control, and report the Pre-Delivery Inspection of new inbound flow, dwelled, and outbound flow of vehicles, including but not limited to: damage inspection exterior and interior, review of vehicle components and accessories, damage claims, software and language setting & updates, assigning 3^rd part inspectors, etc. These tasks may be performed by the company itself or by a third-party LSP.
• Develop and continuously improve company processes for quality control and effective pre-delivery inspection of vehicles in all the ports and compounds designated in Europe.
• Develop detailed reports and identify trends for any issues discovered during the pre-delivery inspection.
• Perform root-cause analysis and collaborate extensively with quality/production/engineering departments to discover the root cause of issues uncovered in the PDI process.
• Maintain accurate records of new vehicle arrivals and vehicles that have completed the PDI process to keep the ready-for-delivery list.
• Take corrective action regarding On Hold vehicles and ensure they are ready for delivery in due time.
• Coordinate with Delivery, Sales, and Service teams to ensure their needs are incorporated into the PDI process.
• Develop strong relationships with our LSPs, ensuring that our demands are fully understood, well executed, and prioritized based on our requirements.
• Display a complete understanding of internal and external compliance standards that vehicles must meet to move through the company PDI process. Immediately escalate concerns of vehicles that do not adhere to this.
• Working location includes both the HQ office and various compounds throughout Europe, with travel time around 50% or above.
• Coach and mentor PDI coordinators in accordance with the company’s standards and instructions for vehicle PDI and quality.

We hope you have:

• 3 to 5 plus years of experience in an automotive service or inspection role is required.
• A technical certification or degree is considered an asset.
• Excellent English language skills; Chinese, Dutch, or any other European language will be considered an advantage.
• Stress-resilient with a problem-solving and results-oriented mindset.
• Driver license B at least is a must-have.
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills - able to build effective innovative relationships across departments and with different service providers.
• Experience working with light machinery and knowledge of using appropriate power tools.
• Initiative to develop and implement process improvements, with a continuous improvement outlook.
• Creative, with a love for building in the abstract and working without procedures.
• A high level of interest and understanding of IT-related Transport management systems.
