OFFICE LOCATION

Koror, Palau

The Palau Conservation Coordinator will be based in TNC’s Koror office. The role will require domestic and international travel of approximately 25% - 50% of the time.

What We Can Achieve Together

The Palau Conservation Coordinator supports conservation activities in Palau, a country that is within the geographic area of TNC’s Micronesia & Polynesia Chapter. The Conservation Coordinator provides administrative, research, project management and other general assistance to program staff working toward the achievement of protection, conservation or stewardship goals within Palau.

The Conservation Coordinator manages conservation data, participates in conservation planning, develops project packages, and maintains project records. This includes collecting, assembling and analyzing various types of data, in the field or through document surveys, and assisting in the production of reports. Work will be conducted in both the field and in an office setting. Working closely with communities and other partners, the Conservation Coordinator will plan and conduct meetings, activities and events and will also create outreach & training materials. The role is subject to ongoing funding and is initially a three-year fixed term role.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, natural resources management or related field and 2 years of related work experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects.
  • Experience handling standard business communications.
  • Fluent in English and Palauan.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in Palau and/or other Pacific Islands.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • 2-4 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently within assigned time frames.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, with assignments sometimes coming from a number of sources and work independently.
  • Ability to coordinate project information from a number of sources to populate databases, create reports and produce manual files.
  • Experience utilizing databases for data entry and report production preferred.
  • Strong administrative skills including attention to detail and numerical ability.
  • Ability to plan, administer and record results of work-team meetings and activities.
