Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the operations to meet Completion Tools division performance targets. As Operations Manager, you will champion and lead implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and develop a culture of operational excellence, ensure service excellence to the required quality standard and due date, whilst achieving the objectives and financial performance defined in the business plan. You will focus on improving our reputation with clientele through providing quality products and services, with flawless field execution. As Operations Manager, you will ensure Completion Tools operates effectively, meeting the needs of both internal and external customers, analysing the current processes within operations and devising improvement plans to ensure cost reductions whilst maximising efficiencies. Crucial to this role will be your ability to drive continuous improvement processes within the operations team, implementing KPIs and metrics as well as providing accurate and realistic reports to key stakeholders. You will be expected to harness a working environment which encourages teamwork, accountability, and an engaged workforce. You will be responsible for improving productivity and profitability through the implementation of effective work methods and problem-solving tools.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the business plan, identifying key developments and setting targets and action plans to achieve this for the field service team, workshop team, and applications team.
  • The operations manager will be responsible for the performance of the activities that his respective teams lead, including equipment selection for projects, workshop assembly and testing activities, field execution, and end of well reporting/job analysis.
  • Drive and oversee the P-D-C-A cycle within the respective teams to ensure continual improvement in day-to-day activities based on lessons learned, KPIs, and statistics.
  • Manage the operations workload to meet customer needs, responding to changing priorities at short notice.
  • Drive and oversee improvements within our workshop to meet international client expectations in terms of Quality and Health & Safety.
  • Drive the QCP within the respective teams to ensure all members understand and follow the plan during daily work activities.
  • Contribute to the development of appropriate documentation to support the business, such as running procedures and working guidelines.
  • Ensure the respective teams have the appropriate training and work well with the current and new ERP system.
  • Identify correct manning levels and caliber of staff to meet planned increases in business unit sales.
  • Drive the development and execution of training and competency plans for both field engineering and workshop staff.
  • Develop effective communication systems to ensure business plan objectives are understood by all.
  • Contribute to the development of new technology within the CT NOV group as required.
  • Implement and monitor specific KPIs to drive behaviours in alignment with business unit objectives.
  • Promote a ‘leader standard work culture’ to provide focused communication to align functions and their goals.
  • Promote the NOV Brand in a professional way within the workplace and with third-party companies.
  • Promote a positive and accountable culture encouraging employees to engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be fully familiar with department and company policies, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Travel when required to support operational/client needs.

Qualifications:

  • Meister Qualification from German Educational System or similar (Essential)
  • Business related qualification
  • Tertiary engineering qualification such as BSc or MSc

Experience:

  • Experience in leading field operations and dealing with clients for a minimum of 5 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
  • Experience in applications engineering and workshop activities.
  • Experience in utilising and working with QCPs.
  • Documented Letters of Recommendation from clients/former companies for specific roles.

Skills, training or special knowledge:

  • Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of ERP Systems such as Beosys, Syteline, etc.
  • Understanding of company policies and procedures
  • Advanced Oilfield Hydraulics Knowledge
  • Train the Trainer certificate
  • Knowledge of CIP methods such as 5 WHY, LEAN, etc.
  • German Language Skills
  • Torque and Drag Modelling / HYD Modelling capabilities
