Your team: You will be part of the Design and Digital Division in the Directorate General Communications. Our Division is responsible for the ECB’s digital communications, including web development, digital content creation and management of social media channels. We also coordinate the production and distribution of statutory and expert publications and create audio-visual communications products for the ECB’s websites.

You will join our Multimedia team, which is responsible for photography, videography and podcasts as well as for developing and maintaining the ECB’s audio-visual communications strategy. Our ideal candidate is a talented creative thinker who lives and breathes digital audio-visual content, embraces challenge and cherishes innovation.

Your role: As a Multimedia Specialist you will:

  • perform the duties of an official photographer and videographer for the ECB, and transport, set up and operate equipment for on-location and multimedia studio productions;
  • develop (plan, draft, produce and edit) multimedia products, sometimes as stand-alone initiatives but often as part of broader communications campaigns, audio-visual productions, podcast series, conferences or events;
  • manage simultaneous multimedia projects by collecting and analysing specifications, drafting documentation, briefing contractors and tracking and complying with all agreed schedules and deadlines;
  • deploy strong interpersonal, technical and storytelling skills to bridge the gap between experts and the general public through high-impact, accessible digital products;
  • contribute to the multimedia process from concept to delivery, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders (including external creative agencies and contractors) to deliver audio-visual solutions for specific requirements in accordance with creative briefings and guidelines you have prepared;
  • proactively research and pursue creative concepts and ideas that will contribute to the ECB’s audio-visual communications strategy, including by using analytics to inform decision-making.

Qualifications, experience and skills:

Essential:

  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in digital communications, photography, videography, podcast creation, filmmaking, advertising or another relevant field;
  • at least one year of professional experience in digital communications, photography, videography, podcasts, filmmaking and/or advertising with a proven track record of collaborative success;
  • expertise in visualising and producing original and distinctive high-quality audio-visual works, demonstrated through a portfolio showcasing your best photos, videos, films, animations, motion graphics, podcasts and/or other audio-visual storytelling productions;
  • superior skills using audio and video editing software in the Adobe Creative Suite, combined with a creative eye and artistic sensibility;
  • sound knowledge of photography, camera types, key photography composition and storytelling principles combined with conceptual thinking, creative problem-solving and strong organisational skills;
  • a clear understanding of the ECB’s mission, tasks and responsibilities, as well as a clear understanding of the European Union;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU.

Desired:

  • experience producing high-quality audio-visual products for publication on social media and/or other online platforms;
  • experience in recording, mixing and editing using state-of-the-art sound technologies;
  • exposure to the typical production work carried out in a production or broadcast studio;
  • a sound understanding of visual communications strategies for prominent private and/or public institutions;
  • previous experience of working in an international environment.

Working modalities: You may occasionally be required to work outside standard working hours and be on-call during weekends and public holidays.

Further information: The contract offered will be fixed-term, the appointment being for 12 months as of the exact starting date of the selected person. Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints.

Application and selection process: The recruitment process for this position will be conducted remotely. It will include a written exercise, a presentation and an interview.
