You are a skilled ML Ops Engineer with a strong software development background. As part of a dynamic, focused team of data scientists and machine learning engineers, you will be responsible for our internal Python data science libraries and support the deployment of machine learning workflows into production.
Our work is focused on providing actionable insights and breakdown analysis for heavy industry assets like mining trucks, underground loaders or material handlers. The data is collected from on-board units and processes in batches within our cloud-based big-data pipeline. Together with data scientists and AI and ML engineers, you will scale up analytics to provide asset uptime metrics or data-driven activity detection for several thousand machines with low latency and high computational performance.
Your mission:
- (Co-)maintain the code base of the data science team.
- Support and drive the deployment and scaling of data science workloads into production.
- Co-maintain the data science technical infrastructure.
- Design and implement scalable analytics pipelines.
Your skills:
- You have at least 2 years of professional experience in software engineering and machine learning engineering and at least 5 years of experience writing code (student assistant or working student time in a relevant field may be included).
- You can design and implement clean, maintainable, and extendable high-quality code using Python.
- You have experience with TensorFlow or Torch, including the creation of model training jobs and deploying models.
- You are proficient in Python, SQL, and Docker as well as you understand best practices and coding standards.
- You have experience and proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (especially in the ML context).
- You have worked with cloud-based approaches and know about the AWS infrastructure.
- You have the mindset to come to the Essen office at least once a week as our working ritual.
- You communicate fluently in English.
Nice to have:
- You have implemented workloads with AWS SageMaker.
- You have experience with MLFlow.
- You own a public GitHub repository with recent examples of ML-related projects.
- You have knowledge about AWS Glue and/or open table formats and data lake solutions like Starburst.
