MEP Construction Procurement Specialist (m/w/d) - Gigafactory Berlin - Brandenburg
The Construction Procurement department is looking for an experienced Construction Procurement Specialist to procure MEP construction works and source long-lead equipment for Tesla's Gigafactory in Berlin. This person should have extensive knowledge of local and international construction suppliers and contractors, as well as experience with MEP construction works and negotiating contracts. A successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
What You’ll Do
- Development of sourcing strategy for MEP scopes and long lead equipment.
- Develop strong stakeholder support and cooperation on assigned commodities, which can range from facilities and construction services along with equipment and material buyouts.
- Pre-qualify suppliers/contractors by assessing their financial credibility, insurance policies and past project experience for efficient execution of Tesla’s scope of work.
- Issue RFx (RFQ, RFB, and RFP) for sourcing assigned services, scopes, and commodities.
- Implement Worldwide/Regional/Country agreements, as necessary, to mitigate Tesla’s exposure to risk and consolidate suppliers spend.
- Review, analyze and clarify bid packages received from suppliers and service providers. Make and present recommendations to award after performing a detailed bid analysis ensuring identical scope inclusion for all bids.
- Conduct bid leveling sessions with contractors and identify commercial cost reduction opportunities.
- Support commodity business planning and savings.
- Analyze historical spend, as well as forecast, spend and savings by project/commodity/business.
Knowledge of the basic MEP systems:
- Mechanical and Plumbing systems:
- Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Water Supply systems
- Drainage and Waste Management
- Process piping
- Fire Sprinklers
- Equipments (AHU, VRF, Heat pumps, pumps, compressors...)
- Electrical systems:
- Power Supply and Distribution
- Lighting Systems
- Electrical Medium to Low-Voltage Systems
- Lightning and earthing systems
- Fire Alarm system
- Equipments (busbars, transformers, panelboards, lights...)
What You’ll Bring
- At least 5 years’ experience in construction-related Purchasing or Construction Management, and experience with General Contractors and construction drawings for the manufacturing industry.
- MS or BS in Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or other with evidence of exceptional experience.
- Additional experience in project Controls or construction management preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to identify business process issues and drive process improvement.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power BI and/or Acrobat.
- Bilingual candidate: English, and minimum B1 level of German language.
