Jobbeschreibung

Primobius is the result of a joint venture between Australian stock exchange-listed Neometals Ltd. and privately owned German plant engineering and technology specialist SMS group GmbH. Primobius offers a unique and sustainable method of recovering valuable lithium, nickel, cobalt, and other materials, for example carbon, from end-of-life or defective lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) from electric vehicles and consumer electronics. The recovered battery materials can be used directly in the production of new batteries.

This unique and advanced recycling solution fits smoothly into the circular economy, ensures that ethically sound materials are used, and helps to reduce not only waste but also our world’s dependence on finite resources. Become a part of our future at Primobius GmbH in Kuppenheim (Baden-Württemberg) where we're looking for a MECHANICAL ENGINEER.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the design and engineering of mechanical systems and components, ensuring they meet the specific requirements and standards of the battery recycling processes at the commercial demonstration plant.
  2. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, EPC contractors, and equipment manufacturers, to integrate mechanical systems into the overall plant design and ensure seamless operation.
  3. Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
  4. Conduct detailed mechanical analyses and calculations to optimize equipment performance, reliability, and energy efficiency, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  5. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and manuals, to support the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.
  6. Provide technical expertise and guidance to operational and maintenance teams, supporting troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions for mechanical issues.
  7. Collaborate with the R&D and Engineering teams to support the development and implementation of new technologies and innovations in mechanical systems and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in industrial or process-related environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and material science.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software and tools, such as CAD, FEA, and CFD.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluent in German and English (verbal and written).

As an innovative and internationally active employer, we offer performance-based compensation and the opportunity for work-life balance with flexible hours and remote work options.
