For our Test Industry site in Aachen, we are looking for a mechanical designer (m/w/x) to strengthen our Mechanical Engineering Department team. The resource we are looking for is a mechanical engineer with at least 4 years of experience in the automotive/mechanical industry.

The role involves managing projects with multinational companies to build machines and test benches for Automotive components. The designer takes charge of the job starting from the preliminary specifications and then initiates direct design in terms of technical solutions, 3D modeling, and 2D drawings. Beyond the design phase, the designer is called upon to meet with the project manager to review project timelines.

Main Responsibilities and Activities:

• Analysis of technical requirements, preliminary sizing of machines and mechanical components
• Machine/structure basic design knowledge
• Definition/design of complex kinematics and measurement components
• Basic Definition/design of actuators, like electrical or hydraulic axes
• Choice of materials for different machine components
• 2D drafting and update changes
• 3D modeling
• Compiling Bill of Materials
• Sharing technical solutions and objectives with the Customer’s engineers and his technical responsible
• Generation of the job order report
• Basic knowledge of PDM system

Technical Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualifications
• Experience of at least 4 years in the automotive/mechanical field
• Interest in mechanical design and automotive engineering
• Using Autodesk Inventor to draft mechanical drawings/assemblies
• Using Autodesk Vault for project management
• Customer and supplier relationship skills
• Knowledge of English language B1 written and spoken
• Knowledge of Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Nice to have:

• Experience or otherwise basic knowledge of Risk Assessment Analysis
