Responsibilities

1. Under general direction, perform general preventative maintenance and simple repairs on manufacturing machines and mechanical equipment.
2. Perform maintenance service and repairs. Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
3. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
4. Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
5. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
6. Provide work leadership for lower level maintenance mechanics through assignment of work.
7. Provide technical guidance and review of assignment progress.
8. May involve repair of electrical systems.

Qualifications

1. Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Requires 3-5 years related experience.
3. May require technical diploma or equivalent.
4. Expert knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
5. Expert knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other structures.
6. Expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, blueprints, drawings, and models.
7. Strong ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
8. May require some electrical knowledge.
9. Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
10. Able to provide training and work leadership.
