Lead and Supporting Roles / RAY & CASS (Short Film)

No Budget (Schauspieler*innen & Sprecher*innen)

UNPAID. We’re casting for roles (including two leads) in our intense, character-driven short film RAY & CASS produced as part of the Catalyst Film School program.

RAY & CASS is a raw, nocturnal odyssey — an unrelenting journey through a single night. Cass, unhinged and destructive, careens through the city, biting strangers and stealing from the helpless. Ray, drawn to him like a moth to a flame, lights matchsticks in a nervous ritual, testing fate. Their paths intertwine in stolen cars, fleeting moments of intimacy, and violent outbursts — a twisted bond forged from shared desperation. In the background, a homeless prophet chants about divine melodies, as faith collides with chaos.

Shooting Dates tbd: May 2–6, 2025 (4 shooting days)
Location: Berlin

This is an unpaid student project – the team is working on a voluntary basis. Food, good energy, and a dedicated crew guaranteed!

All applicants should feel comfortable acting in English.

LEAD ROLES

CASS (Male Lead)

Playing Age: 18–22

Volatile, magnetic, emotionally chaotic. A mix of boyish charm and dangerous unpredictability. Deeply wounded with a twisted sense of justice. Constantly testing others, pushing boundaries.

Requirements:
Comfortable with intense physicality and emotional extremes.

Key Scenes Include:

1. Confrontations and physical action (biting, fighting)
2. Simulated drug use
3. Psychological breakdowns
4. Intense silent tension with female lead

RAY (Female Lead)

Playing Age: 20–28

Carries trauma in her eyes. Once full of light, now dimmed by life and addiction. She exists between submission and rebellion. A fragile yet powerful presence.

Key Scenes Include:

1. Scenes in lingerie
2. Simulated drug use
3. Emotional monologues and physical confrontations
4. Intense silent tension with male lead

SUPPORTING ROLES

PREACHER (M, 50–70)

Street prophet. Eccentric. Strange yet sincere. Monologue-heavy.

CRACKHEAD (M, 30–50)

Desperate. Erratic. Raw, expressive physical acting.

DEALER (M, 25–35)

Slick. Intense. Charismatic, poetic energy.
