Dematic is actively looking to appoint a new EHS Manager for the DACH region, supporting the local team and Director of EHS EMEA by managing the environmental, health, and safety systems and processes.

The EHS Manager is an integral member of the team and works closely with our Project Managers and the wider management team to provide technical advice on EHS for the active projects within the DACH region.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the EHS process at the location by partnering with “customers” within the facility to help them achieve business objectives through effective environmental, health, and safety systems and processes.

Tasks and Qualifications :

Key Accountabilities :

1. Promote compliance with respective local legislation, local and Dematic, and KION EHS policies, regulations, and standards. Continually stay abreast of legislation and share your knowledge and experience within the organisation and the EHS EMEA Leadership team.
2. Advise and assist Managers and Project Managers on EHS&S matters, becoming a technical source for the location and projects with corporate support.
3. Develop appropriate safety and environmental auditing tools, create the audit plan based on project forecasting, identify appropriate EHS onsite resources, and conduct audits as appropriate in offices, projects, and other sites as CS or manufacturing.
4. Compile data and develop reports for Central, Regional or Local Governments, Corporate entities, and Dematic internal, including monthly internal reports, accident/incident reports, KION Sustainability reports, BBSO, H&S Inspections, and other country and local agencies. Understand and complete most regulatory reporting such as hazardous/non-hazardous waste annual reports/permits.
5. Identify significant opportunities for EHS&S improvement, implementing permanent corrective action as a final step to problem-solving. Create action and training plans to achieve the results.
6. Maintain ISO14001 and ISO 45001 certification and improve the existing management system.
7. Act as Dematic EHS&S representative to the Authorities, Industrial associations, and customers. Interface with worker’s representatives for EHS topics.
8. Coordinate the activities of the EHS teams and consultants in the different countries, including risk assessments, H&S plans for projects, emergency plans, and crisis management.
9. Lead the EHS DACH Team and maintain the EHS DACH cost center.
10. Implement EHS programs: e.g., Work at Heights, Electrical Safety, Lock-out/Tag-out, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Hazard Communication Program (GHS), Confined Space, Chemical Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Ergonomics Surveys, industrial hygiene studies, Voluntary CPR/First Aid/Fire Brigade Training, Loss prevention services, Energy Conservation campaigns, energy-saving projects.

Qualifications and Requirements :

1. Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
2. Certified Health and Safety Engineer (Sicherheitsfachkraft).
3. Established background and technical expertise in EHS processes with experience working on construction projects or in a similar industrial field.
4. Experience in health, safety, and/or sustainability certifications (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001).
5. Possesses excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others, transmit the passion for H&S, and establish and maintain relationships with co-workers.
6. Strategical thinking, organized, and able to create and follow-up action plans.
7. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
8. Leadership skills in driving safety culture within the business.
9. Strong leadership in guiding direct reports for clear organization & vision.
10. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
11. Verbal and written fluency in both German and English (C1).
12. Ability and willingness to travel to operational sites when required (up to 30%).
