To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise in the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Therapy – ideally with you on board!

Our group studies the mechanisms of immune cell activation and recruitment in various mouse models of inflammation. In detail, this project addresses immunoregulatory, metabolic and organ-specific as well as systemic molecular changes during acute kidney injury and organ dysfunction.

As a part of the collaborative network (CRC1450 inSight), this project provides an exciting and dynamic research environment with a broad range of state-of-the-art technologies from various departments, with excellent opportunities for networking and collaborations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Intravital microscopy studies in mice to study live tissue dynamics
  2. Flow cytometry and sorting of specific cell populations
  3. Perform metabolic assays, including assessment of mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis
  4. Conduct scRNAseq/bulkRNAseq for gene expression analysis
  5. Use spatial transcriptomics for studying gene expression in tissue context
  6. Carry out immunofluorescence microscopy to visualize cellular components
  7. Investigate protein-protein interactions
  8. Perform retroviral transfection of bone marrow cells
  9. Generate bone marrow chimeras for studying hematopoiesis

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Above average Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedicine, experimental medicine, medicine or other related subjects / life sciences
  2. Strong knowledge in molecular biology, biochemical and immunological techniques such as western blot, flow cytometry, cell culture, ELISA, metabolomics or RNAseq/transcriptomics approaches
  3. Ideally you have obtained knowledge and skills in bioinformatics analyses including 10x pipelines and omics analyses, R / Python
  4. Experience in working with mice or imaging techniques is not essential, but would be beneficial
  5. Independent, reliable and structured way of working with a good sense of quality is essential
  6. High motivation, flexibility, good self-organization and team working abilities
  7. Ability to analyse and critically reflect scientific data
  8. Determination, creativity, profound knowledge and resilience to successfully complete the project and advance the scientific field
  9. Very good written and spoken English language skills
  10. Enthusiasm and passion for doing and understanding science
  11. Ability to organize and prioritize work
