Your role and responsibilities

You will be responsible for Health, Safety and Environment topics, assisting managers and employees to deliver a high-performing culture through clear line management accountability and a competent organization in the ABB Logistics Center Europe GmbH based in Menden. You will push improvements in health, safety and environment (HSE) performance to ensure a high-performing health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment. In this role you will lead by example, applying your in-depth HSE knowledge to provide solutions and advice to address a variety of issues.

1. Lead HSE activities and improvements together with the Operative Unit Manager (report directly to Unit Manager).
2. Maintain HSE management systems including control of documents and records, operational control procedures, and continuous improvement.
3. Identify opportunities for improvement in the HSE program in regard to compliance, management systems, and culture. Develop, recommend and implement appropriate corrective measures.
4. Establish performance target objectives aligned with strategic ABB direction in core functions (Safety and Environmental) and monitors achievement of.
5. Maintain all safety and compliance records for employees and the facilities.
6. Support sustainability initiatives and maintain energy, water, and waste consumption metrics. Develop, recommend, and implement appropriate controls to reduce use or disposal.
7. Responsible for the HSE area training program to all employees.

Qualifications for the role

• Several years of experience in HSE topics.
• Sound knowledge of processes and topics ideally in HSE in a logistical or industrial/factory environment with strategic, analytic and organizational background.
• Knowledge of standard office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, …), database handling.
• Ability to manage complex issues and work in cross-functional teams.
• Collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills.
• The ability to manage complex issues and work in cross-functional teams and on all levels.
• Diploma, Master or Bachelor of Science in Engineering or similar.
• Excellent German and good English language skill(s), written and spoken. Additional language skills are welcome.
