We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Digital Enablement to lead and oversee four key functions: Workplace Technology, Engineering Platform, Infrastructure, and IT Security. This role is pivotal in ensuring our employees and engineering teams have the technology and platforms they need to excel. The Head of Digital Enablement will drive strategy, ensure operational excellence, and manage the overall budget for the entire Digital Enablement domain. You will be leading the teams by developing and owning technical solutions that have maximum business impact and building teams/ organization that excels in doing so.
Your responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the overall Digital Enablement strategy, aligning with Bonial's business objectives.
Team Management: Lead and mentor four teams:
Workplace Technology: Overseeing all systems and services for Bonial employees, including helpdesk support, desktops & endpoints, enterprise applications, and user management.
Engineering Platform: Driving the development and operation of the platform that empowers Bonial's engineers to build, deliver, and run software, including software delivery, developer experience, platform tooling, and compliance automation.
Infrastructure: Overseeing networking, cloud infrastructure, server management, and monitoring & alerting.
IT Security: Directing security governance, threat detection, monitoring & response, and security training & consulting.
Budget Management: Manage the Digital Enablement budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and maximizing ROI.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with senior leadership, engineering leaders, and other departments to understand their needs and deliver effective IT solutions.
Operational Excellence: Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of all IT platforms and services.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
Talent Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate IT-related risks, including security risks, and implement appropriate security measures.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including data protection and security standards.
Build the right things: Working with product and other stakeholders on establishing and executing a software roadmap aligned with company goals and the development of an overall product/platform strategy based on market direction and company vision.
Build things right & fast: Owning delivery and being ultimately accountable for the systems of the area. Identifying and removing obstacles blocking engineering as a whole from delivering. Monitoring and ensuring system reliability, availability, security, and performance within SLAs. Creating SLAs if needed.
Continuous Innovation: Provide technical leadership and continuously re-evaluate the effectiveness of our technology stack. Advise the CTO and other company executives on technical topics, including security best practices. Ensure that the organization understands and adopts new technologies and methodology.
Lead teams to greatness: Create an environment of psychological safety and continuous improvement, where team members give their best every day, conflicts are used to grow, calculated risk-taking is common, and team morale is high even in times of pressure. Ensuring healthy cross-department relationships at all levels.
Grow people: Being a role model for leads and engineers and guiding and supporting them to become successful Leaders and/or Expert Engineers themselves. Implementing a Leader-Leader culture. Ensuring personnel performance issues are professionally and effectively addressed.
Your profile:
8+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, with a proven track record of managing diverse IT functions.
Extensive knowledge of workplace technologies, engineering platforms, cloud infrastructure, and software development lifecycles.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in budget management and financial planning.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Experience managing diverse teams, including Workplace Technology, Engineering Platform, Infrastructure, and IT Security.
Prior experience in leading engineering teams, ideally as a lead of leads. People see you as a natural leader that manages complexity, ensures accountability and drives results.
You have a track record of finding lean and elegant solutions to complex problems.
You are a great and proactive communicator and empathetic and accessible technical leader.
Fluent in agile principles and methodologies.
You show maturity in tradeoffs, make sound decisions, and plan well.
You take ownership and feel responsible not only for technical solutions but for how they serve the business as a whole.
You have a very good understanding of software architecture principles, security principles, and application and hands-on experience as a Senior Engineer. Our main technologies are Java, Python, React, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS.
A passion for quality with a focus on managing technical debt, clean code, and test-driven development.
Releasing early and often and the technologies to achieve this are self-evident to you.
You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Good to Have:
Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Experience with security frameworks and best practices.
Proficiency in German, as it is beneficial for vendor communication and collaboration within the German market.
Knowledge of the digital advertising or e-commerce industry.
