Your role and responsibilities

• Lead & Innovate: Guide a diverse team of software engineers and subject matter experts to design, develop, and deliver scalable, reliable, and secure digital software solutions.• Drive Digital Sustainability: Oversee the evolution of ABB’s sustainability software platform, ensuring cloud-native and edge computing components align with global business strategies.• Architect & Develop: Define and execute technical strategies for industrial software applications, leveraging cutting-edge AI/ML, Advanced Process Control (APC), Real-Time Optimization (RTO), and Modelica.• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, sales, product management, and engineering teams worldwide to develop digital solutions that address global and regional needs.• Agile Execution & Quality: Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to Agile/Scrum methodologies, industry standards, security, and compliance requirements.• Mentor & Grow Talent: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning, providing coaching and guidance to a globally distributed software engineering team.• Financial & Strategic Oversight: Support financial planning and budget management, ensuring cost efficiency while achieving technology and product milestones.Preferred locations for the job are: Germany, Italy or IndiaWork-model is #Hybrid

Qualifications for the role

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with specialization in Industrial Process Control/Optimization.
• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with expertise in industrial applications, digital transformation, or control systems.
• Proven leadership experience managing high-performing engineering teams across multiple regions and time zones.
• Hands-on experience with C/C++/C#, Java, .NET, Python, and modern software architectures.
• Strong understanding of Cloud/Edge computing, AI/ML, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to collaborate globally and drive results in a dynamic, highly regulated industry.
