A subsidiary of a multi-functional trading house in Dusseldorf is currently looking for Senior Accountant and Assistant Manager.
You will be responsible for the management accounts of one or more business departments in their Company.
The Accounting Section of the Düsseldorf Administration Department has direct responsibility for the Düsseldorf accounting function, as well as supporting the other branches’ accounting functions. It liaises closely with all departments in Düsseldorf and other branches.

TYPE: Permanent, full-time
WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday, flexy-time (weekly working hours: 38.5 hours)
SALARY:

  1. Accountant (7 years+) - up to €70k depending on experience
  2. Assistant Manager (10 years+, with team management experience) - up to €80k depending on experience
* Both positions’ salary can be negotiable for a perfect candidate

LOCATION: in Dusseldorf, Germany

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Prepare, maintain, and audit the internal monthly management accounts of certain business departments (sales depts) on an in-house accounting system
  2. Input accounting data in the accounting system
  3. Check accounting entries with supporting documents i.e. purchase invoices, shipping documents
  4. Conduct and interpret variance analysis on a monthly basis and be able to discuss results with the accounting manager
  5. Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing within prescribed deadlines
  6. Use Excel to check monthly accounting data
  7. Filing of all related monthly accounting data and supporting documentation
  8. Assist staff within the business departments with the preparation of accounting data
  9. Assist with internal and external audit process
  10. Assist with monthly VAT declaration
  11. Preparation of balance confirmation
  12. Participate in various meetings together with other members of the European accounts team
  13. Demonstrate full professional skills and knowledge and will be both a trusted advisor on a particular topic and be able to develop company procedures and methods
  14. Uses analytical skills to develop solutions to non-routine problems

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  1. Extensive experience in an accounting role in a German company
  2. Business level of fluency in both English and German is essential
  3. Experience in a trading company would be beneficial
  4. PC skills (especially advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ERP system)
  5. Attention to Detail and good time management skills
  6. Excellent communication with employees at all levels
  7. Commitment to self-development
  8. Ability to work to strict deadlines
  9. Develops strong working relationship both internally and externally
  10. Good bookkeeping skills
  11. Stability of performance when under pressure
  12. Ability to assess, prioritise and manage own workload
  13. Provides clear and constructive feedback to others
  14. Presents complex thoughts clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  15. Ability to determine major objectives and how to implement
