Assoc. Principal Analyst, IT Services, Gartner Research.

About the role:
In order to efficiently scale and continue to delight customers, Gartner is investing in ‘Research Analyst Lab’ located in our Gurgaon Center of Excellence. Analysts on this exciting team will be aligned with Gartner’s most visionary experts to directly help clients by writing research and delivering compelling interactions.

As an Associate Principal Analyst, you will be aligned to IT Services Sourcing Team which advises and researches on topics such as Application and Infrastructure technology implementations and support. As an analyst, you will engage with clients to support their most challenging business initiatives, ultimately helping them to make the right decisions for their role and their business. To support these conversations you will research markets, practices and trends and produce written research for Gartner clients to download and apply. You will collaborate with peers and become a published author on Gartner.com showcasing your own thought-leading research, growing your knowledge and your brand as a Gartner Analyst.

What you’ll do:
Key coverage you will support includes:

  1. Reviewing client RFP, contract terms and implementation proposals for best practice, gaps, and pricing to guide them on the inquiry call with recommendations.
  2. Conduct research and analysis in specific areas of expertise targeting client’s outsourcing of services to third party providers.
  3. Respond to client questions and deliver high quality actionable advice through a variety of media like inquiry or written response.
  4. Write high quality, clear, actionable, advisory research documents.
  5. Collaborate and support research with cohorts, gather needed data and within specified topic areas, across IT Services (applications and infrastructure outsourcing, solution implementations etc.).
  6. Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding support to sales partners to retain and grow the business.

What you’ll need:
It helps to be obsessed with your topic! Gartner analysts are correctly viewed as THE experts. This means you will need to further develop your knowledge of your markets, vendors, trends, and management practices. Gartner Analysts are team players who value expert insights, bold ideas, and intellectual courage. They also love to solve the most challenging of puzzles!

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; an MBA degree from leading B schools will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement operations performing the buying activities either in a service provider or client organization, a research or technology-related role.
  • Subject matter familiarity in buying and contracting for IT Services, with the ability to demonstrate understanding of the evolving services market.
  • Foundational knowledge and experience in developing and executing RFP (Request for Pricing), contracting best practices for IT outsourced services and/or solution implementation Services.
  • Knowledge of the terms and conditions you would expect to see in a Master Service Agreement for IT Services.
  • Knowledge of who the major Global Services Providers are that offer Outsourced Services.
  • Knowledge of at least some generic key evaluation criteria you can use to down select a service provider in ANY type of service, including the kind of data/info would you ask for.

Flawless, articulate and succinct communication skills in English: Excellent presentation and writing skills. Strong collaborative skills and ability to work effectively in remote and culturally diverse teams.
