About the role
As our Financial Controller, you will be at the forefront of our financial management efforts, working closely with Senior Management, the People & Culture Team, and Team Leads. Your role is not just about numbers; it’s about shaping key processes and contributing to the strategic direction of the company.
You will have the flexibility to choose your workplace—whether at our offices in Constance or Munich, or remotely, reflecting our commitment to work-life balance and modern, flexible work environments. The position is initially limited to 2 years, with potential opportunities for extension based on performance and business needs.
What you’ll be doing
- Prepare Budget Plans and Quarterly Forecasts: You'll be responsible for developing comprehensive budget plans and updating forecasts on a quarterly basis. This includes coordinating with different departments to gather insights and data, ensuring that the financial plans align with the company’s strategic goals.
- Support in the Preparation of Monthly Financial Statements: You will assist in preparing monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards. This includes reconciling accounts, analysing variances, and providing detailed explanations for deviations from the forecast.
- Conduct Financial Analyses and Develop Management Reporting in PowerBI: You'll perform detailed financial analyses to support decision-making processes. By leveraging PowerBI, you will enhance the management reporting system, making data more accessible and actionable for stakeholders.
- Refine and Optimize Finance Processes and Methodologies: A key part of your role will be to identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance department. You'll work on streamlining existing procedures, implementing best practices, and leveraging automation tools to enhance efficiency.
- Support the Implementation of MS Dynamics: You will support the successful integration of MS Dynamics into our finance operations. This will involve working closely with IT and other teams to ensure that the system meets our financial reporting and operational needs, as well as training team members on how to effectively use the new platform.
What you’ll need to bring to the role:
- 3-5+ Years of Professional Experience in Financial Control: You have a strong background in controlling, with hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting. Your expertise allows you to quickly understand complex financial data and provide valuable insights.
- Proactive and Self-Driven Approach with a Structured Working Style: You are known for your proactive attitude and ability to work independently. You approach tasks with a methodical mindset, always keeping the final objective in focus and managing your time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Passion for Working with Data, Advanced Skills in MS Excel, and Experience with PowerBI: You have a deep love for data and are highly proficient in using MS Excel for complex calculations, data manipulation, and analysis. Experience with PowerBI and creating dashboards and visual reports is a plus.
- Strong Affinity for Digital Processes and Innovative Tools: You are comfortable working with digital tools and enjoy exploring new technologies that can optimize work processes. Your adaptability to new software and systems enables you to drive digital transformation within the finance team.
- Collaborative Spirit, Eager to Share New Ideas, and Identify Improvement Opportunities: You thrive in a team environment and are always willing to contribute your ideas. Your keen eye for detail helps you identify areas for improvement, and you communicate your suggestions effectively to others.
- Experience at the Interface of Accounting and Controlling; Familiarity with HGB and US GAAP is an Advantage: You bring experience working at the intersection of accounting and controlling, allowing you to bridge the gap between these functions. Knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and US GAAP is an advantage, as it will help you navigate the requirements of our parent company.
- Fluent Communication Skills in Both German and English: You are fluent in both German and English, which is crucial for your role in communicating with our diverse team and the parent company, WebMD. Your strong communication skills ensure that you can convey complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
