General Summary:

We now have an opening for a senior FAE style role targeting both customers and distributors. The candidate must have very good communication skills for the target region of the role in addition to English. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic team player that is completely at ease talking to customers at a roadmap technical level and during business discussions, and who also has a background in Software applications. We have several roles and will be looking for candidates in Germany, France, and Italy close to Industrial and partner companies.

Job function:
To join Qualcomm's Customer Engineering team in an FAE/SW applications role. To forge strong and trusted relationships with key Industrial partners, to support customer development of exciting new Qualcomm SoC based products with next generation AI, Machine learning, computer vision, and cellular communication technologies.

FAE SW Apps role:

1. Build relationships with Distributors, Industrial customers, and partners.
2. Organize technical trainings on Qualcomm products.
3. Act as technical pre-sales engineer.
4. Support distributors and customers in their product development lifecycle.
5. Support business teams in their discussions with distributors and customers.
6. Understand key aspects of system requirements and designs.
7. Train customers and partners on Qualcomm's platforms and features.
8. Collaborate across multiple teams and locations.
9. Travel extensively to directly support distributors and customers.

Skills/experience:

Required:

1. Fluent Native regional written and oral communication.
2. Good English written and oral communication.
3. 14+ years of industrial experience supporting embedded/industrial IoT customers based on Tier1 chipsets.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, high motivation, the ability to learn quickly, and must be a self-starter.

Preferred:

1. Familiar with embedded system and real-time OS - exposure to one or more of Linux, Yocto, Ubuntu, Windows systems - bring-up, device tree, peripheral customizations.
2. Understanding of computer system architecture (core, cache, memory models, bus architecture, etc.).
3. Experience in C/C++ programming, systems knowledge.
4. Experience with testing tools/scripts (Python, shell script) development on Windows and Linux.
5. AI and ML software and frameworks experience.
6. Hardware systems design experience.

Education requirements:

1. Masters or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
2. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills in either German, French, or Italian (as per location) and English (both written and oral).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field and 6+ years of Field Application Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field and 5+ years of Field Application Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field and 4+ years of Field Application Engineering or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
• 12+ years of Field Application Engineering or related work experience.
• 3+ years of experience in relevant engineering areas such as hardware design, systems design, software programming, etc.
• 3+ years of experience in a sales or customer-facing role.
• 3+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
• 2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
• 1+ year of working with operating budgets and/or project financials.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Leverages advanced Field Application Engineering knowledge and experience to provide highly visible customer support through the design, development, and adoption of products (e.g., hardware, software, RF, XR, IoT, etc.).
2. Serves as company liaison on highly critical administrative/technical matters and instructs customers on the design, development, selection, and use of highly advanced system architectures and equipment.
3. Collects, addresses, and informs appropriate Business Units of highly critical feedback from customers regarding the quality, applicability, and definition of products.
4. Collaborates with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales team, etc.) in assessing the application of company products to meet customer needs, preparing product specifications for the development and implementation of highly critical customer applications/solutions, and achieving annual sales targets for designated products and solutions.
5. Develops and delivers highly complicated or specialized product demos or presentations for customers and partners.

Level of Responsibility:

1. Works independently with minimal supervision.
2. Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.
3. Decision-making is significant in nature and affects work beyond immediate work group.
4. Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
5. Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions.
6. Tasks do not have defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
