Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Network Energy Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.

The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center focuses on Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design, and Strategic Technology Planning, playing a crucial role in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage, Data Centers, Electric Vehicles, and Embedded Power Supply.

Join us as an Expert in Power Electronics for Solar & Battery Energy Storage (m/f/d).

Your mission

1. Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify and formulate Solar PV system and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) requirements.
2. Support in technology roadmap development for next generation Solar PV & BESS architecture and converter structures.
3. Lead and execute the research and development of novel Solar PV architecture and converter topologies, from residential PV scenarios to utility PV plants.
4. Propose innovative solutions for DC/DC & DC/AC power conversion in PV & BESS.
5. Lead the design and subsequent verification and validation of converter concepts in the R&D laboratories.
6. Collaborate with external R&D Institutes and Universities in developing novel converter and control algorithms for power electronic applications relevant to Huawei Digital Power.
7. Generate novel ideas and protect them with IPR filings.
8. Mentor and coach less experienced staff members.

Your areas of expertise

1. You hold a PhD or Master's degree in the field of power electronics, electrical and electronic engineering, or a similar background in Research & Development.
2. Profound R&D experience in the field of power electronics.
3. Deep expertise in power electronic converter topologies, modulation, control, and algorithm development, focusing on system and hardware design.
4. Good theoretical understanding of basic power electronic converter principles, multi-level converters, magnetic component designs, power semiconductor devices such as wide band gap devices, and power converter modulation & control.
5. Proven experience with new technology development initiatives and innovation, as well as publications in reputed journals.
6. High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style, with a “can do” attitude, eagerness to learn new things, and readiness to think outside the box.
7. Occasional travel related to ongoing projects, seminars, conferences, etc.
8. Fluent in written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
