We are looking for a Catastrophe (CAT) Risk Analyst Expert (m/f/d) based in Munich.
Your Team Our global CAT Risk Analytics & Services team is committed to providing the best possible risk management solutions to Allianz Commercial entities and its central functions. Our team was created this year to enable the integration of MidCorp and LargeCorp data to allow combined analysis and steering for Allianz Commercial globally. A focus point for the team is the definition and implementation of the processes and tools of the future Allianz Commercial Cat data flow. The Impact You Will Have Reporting to the Head of CAT Risk Analytics & Services MidCorp, you will play a critical role by helping to shape and ramp up this new team responsible for identifying and quantifying major accumulation risks that could impact the company's financial stability. By utilizing your expertise in catastrophe modelling and data analysis, you will support the establishment of appropriate risk mitigation and control mechanisms to safeguard Allianz Commercial's financial solvency. Sharing our knowledge and guiding junior colleagues will be an important contribution to the growth of the team. You will manage medium to large-sized projects, taking ownership of the definition, execution, and delivery phases, and delivering specific outcomes to meet team objectives. With your contributions, Allianz Commercial can better manage risks and continue to provide its customers with the highest level of protection possible.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include: - Run Catastrophe loss modelling software (Natural perils and Terrorism) and prepare regular and ad-hoc data extracts and reports for the monitoring of Allianz Commercial Midcorp global loss potential - including portfolio analyses, CAT limit monitoring (Allianz Group and Commercial internal limits), supporting global business steering and providing input to ensure adequate Reinsurance protection.
- Define scope, agree on timeframes and execute deliverables with internal and external clients for ad-hoc data and reporting tasks as well as projects. Lead/mentor others in global loss modelling activities and related analyses, including use of in-depth knowledge of model methodology and function to explain, validate modelled loss output.
- Collaboration with CUO LoBs (Lines of Business) across all Allianz organizational entities (OEs) and other relevant functions (Actuarial, Risk Management, Reinsurance, Cat Capacity Steering Desk, Engineering, Claims, etc.) to support business steering and portfolio management, Solvency II requirements, Reinsurance renewals and Data Quality improvements.
- Provide on the spot consultancy and translate or explain CAT Modeling results and reports to users across all organizational entities (OEs); Communicate and explain portfolio impact e.g. from model changes to internal clients.
- Training and education across Allianz Commercial, Allianz Group as well as clients.
- Drive innovation and change through managing the evaluation process relating to modelling upgrades, GIS applications and other vendor catastrophe loss modelling software. All upgrade and change activities include technical and portfolio impact analyses and complete documentation.
- Adapt existing tools (e.g. GIS, accumulation control at point of underwriting) for new use cases in Allianz Commercial MidCorp and develop process automation with a strong focus on client needs and data quality. Help with the integration of the tools into the wider Allianz IT and process landscape.
What You'll Bring to the Role - Degree preferably in Geosciences, Physics, Engineering or other relevant fields.
- About 7+ years of professional experience in insurance and/or reinsurance.
- Excellent understanding of underwriting practices for industrial risks and corporate business on a global basis.
- 5+ years of experience in project management as well as process enhancement and design.
- 5-7 years of experience in exploratory data analysis and statistics for large data sets.
- Excellent expertise in Catastrophe Modeling Software (e.g. RMS, Verisk) and in GIS (Geographical Information Systems) applications.
- Excellent expertise in Python/Pandas/SQL or similar for data analysis and automation (e.g. via API).
- Proficiency in office software such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good knowledge in version control systems (Git).
- Outstanding analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with various levels and functions internally and externally in a global environment.
- Strong ability to lead others in line with the organizational strategic orientation.
- Ability to deliver, drive innovation and manage change.
- Fluent in English.
