As part of our activities in Lörrach Germany, Syngenta is looking for a:
Europe Customs Expert Strategy (f/m/d) - only Germany based! Full remote!
Role purpose:
The Europe Customs Expert Strategy will act as a design and compliance authority for all relevant customs and foreign trade processes applied in the region and support their application together with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the supply chain. You will report to the Europe customs strategy manager.
Responsibilities/main tasks:
- Act as a design & project authority for customs and foreign trade excellence throughout the region
- Coordinate and actively manage customs compliance and procedures (e.g. AEO certification and approved exporter status)
- Review and optimize supply chains to mitigate or reduce duty in a volatile and flexible environment (e.g., toll manufacturing set-up)
- Explore new opportunities to optimize customs duties with partnering countries in Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe
- Work together with legal and tax to review customs valuation matters
- Help to drive Improvement of preference handling within the organization
Qualifications
Knowledge and experience expected:
- Bachelor`s degree in Customs, Foreign Trade or comparable education
- Good knowledge of import/export, customs and foreign trade concepts within an international company
- 3+ years of experience in customs and international trade
- Awareness of tax and transfer pricing concepts would be a plus
- Good command of (supply chain) modelling and analytics tools would be a plus
- Experience managing SAP and SAP-GTS would be a plus
- Experience in a multinational environment, in a multicultural team and/or context
- Ability to manage and work under pressure, reacting appropriately in a constantly changing environment whilst working closely with business stakeholders
- Fluent in English and German; any additional language is a plus
- Experience in the chemicals industry (with relevant regulations e.g. ADR dangerous goods transportation) would be a plus
- Ability and basic experience to communicate with authorities
