Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Specialist

Responsibilities
The ESG Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring Howmet's Supply Chain Sustainability Program is successful in identifying impacts, risks, and developing effective mitigation strategies. New and upcoming regulations on the topic, focusing on human rights and supplier Environment, Social and Governance due diligence practices are a key part of the role. You will drive continuous improvement within our Supplier Sustainability Program, as well as within the ESG performance of our supply chain, by ensuring the quality of our supplier due diligence, evaluation of supplier ESG assessment results, and interventions taken as a response to the data evaluation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Howmet’s commitment to sustainability and the sustainability performance of our supply chain. The position reports to the Senior Manager Sustainability and is a member of the Sustainability Committee.
Major Activities/Key Challenges:- Develop the ESG supplier risk assessment process with input from Subject Matter Experts.
- Act as the Supply Chain Human Rights Matter Expert.
- Implement programs and procedures to comply with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, with the supply chain due diligence requirements for the Hungarian CSRD transposition and with the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive:
- Coordinate Human Rights assessments and follow up to ensure findings are addressed.
- Work with procurement on our 3rd party ESG supplier assessment platform to ensure legally required due diligence is carried out.
- Support analysis of results of supplier ESG assessments to determine action needs and follow up with procurement to ensure required actions are taken.
- Ensure required documentation is in place.
- Carry out and support trainings either in-house or for suppliers.
- Support country-specific reporting on these regulations when needed.
- Establish Supply Chain Mapping process for prioritized goods and services.
- Maximize information/KPIs obtained from our supplier sustainability assessment 3rd party platform for ESG reporting and legally required supplier sustainability risk mapping.
- Collaborate with the Procurement function leadership across all business units.
- Support the broader Howmet Sustainability approach.
- Support evaluation of existing third-party sustainable sourcing programs for commodities to create synergies and efficiencies.
- Support ESG related supply chain communications to internal or external stakeholders.
- Support ESG related disclosures including annual ESG report, Sustainability Statement, and policies.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sustainability/ESG roles or Responsible Sourcing.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in Hungary. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Supplier Due Diligence & Human Rights, as well as sustainable sourcing programs.
- Procurement/Supply Chain experience, ideally in sustainability due diligence.
- Human rights degree, training, and/or work experience related to Human Rights.
- Knowledge of Supply Chain ESG regulations such as the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, etc.
- Fluent in German or French.
