NV5 Geospatial (NV5G) is actively recruiting an Environmental Scientist who possesses sound expertise in environmental science as well as experience using geospatial technologies and analytic methodologies. The scientist must be self-motivated with exceptional planning, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills. The scientist must work well in team environments. The scientist will provide support for the collection, production, analysis, dissemination and maintenance of consistent and accurate installation geospatial data and products. The work will be based primarily in Oberpfalz, Bavaria area, with occasional travel to the NV5 Germany Office in Gilching. Position start is contingent upon contract award.
To be eligible, applicants must have resided in Germany for a minimum of 12 months and must possess a valid work permit or other authorization to work in the country.

Location: The work will be based primarily in Oberpfalz, Bavaria area, with occasional travel to the NV5 Germany Office in Gilching.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform Range and Training Land Assessment (RTLA) and Land Reconfiguration and Maintenance (LRAM) project planning.
Assist in the acquisition and assessment of aerial imagery, Light Detection and Range (LiDAR) data, satellite remote sensing data, and other environmental information for the purpose of investigating the condition of environmental and cultural resources.
Part of a team that develops installation-specific environmental and cultural resource classification systems for use with remotely sensed data.
Utilize GIS to support training land assessments, develop standardized geoinformatics/geodatabases, and cartographic and web-based mapping support.
Utilize GIS for multi-temporal, multi-scale land condition modeling, including assessments of landcover, terrain, soil, hydrology, biological, and other ecological parameters of interest.
Ability to input data into GIS and mapping systems, read and interpret maps, record drawings and legal descriptions, prepare charts, graphs and displays.
Ability to demonstrate progress to the client and communicate issues related to unclear, missing, or incomplete information.
Ability to engage with local client staff and take technical directions from local subject matter experts.
Ability to accurately prepare deliverables for delivery to the client.
Ability to travel locally in Bavaria to surrounding sites for potential field work collection.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Residency Requirement: Applicants must have been living in Germany for at least 12 months prior to applying.
Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in geography, computer science, surveying, engineering, forestry, earth science, natural resources, or a related field.
Experience with Esri ArcGIS Software.
Working knowledge of design and use of GIS and/or computerized mapping system (public or military).
1 Year experience with GIS.
Understanding of field data collection techniques and principles.
General computer skills, i.e. word processor, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc.
Fluent English language speaking and writing skillset.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in geography, computer science, surveying, engineering, forestry, earth science or natural resources.
Experience w/ ArcGIS Pro.
Experience w/ ESRI data collections applications.
Sound technical understanding of key technologies (GIS, CADD, Database) and systems.
Experience with LiDAR and remote sensing.
Familiarity with QCP implementation and the SDSFIE family of standards.
