An established Japanese logistics company is currently recruiting for a Senior Operation Engineer to join their Rotterdam office.
As a Senior Operation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of driving operational excellence and efficiency across the logistics operations. TYPE : Permanent, full-time
WORKING HOURS : 8:30-17:30 (1 hour lunch break) Monday to Friday
SALARY : €36-50K depending on experience (including 13 months gross salary holiday allowance) + performance-based bonus
START : ASAP
LOCATION : Rotterdam, the Netherlands (Office based, but Hybrid work may be considered depending on skills and experience)
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of operational processes and systems to optimize efficiency and productivity within the logistics environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, IT, and engineering to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Process review and continuous improvement.
- Using Lean Six Sigma, 5S methodology to analyse and refine existing processes.
- Oversee and lead continuous improvement projects (inclusive of participating in LEAN program management).
- Provide management feedback on new process opportunities or gap identification.
- Model seasonality (Client space requirements flexing up and down) for new and existing clients and how that impacts our business from a space and labour allocation standpoint.
- Propose racking configurations and process flows to optimize utilization of space based on Client and product mix.
- Innovate robotic solutions and full deployment.
- Provide visual support to KPI’s and performance within the Distribution Centres.
- Gather data for Client Operational analysis.
Analysis
- Analyse contractual commitments and Client specifications to model Operational standards that impact pricing and profitability prior to Clients coming on.
- Review current business to understand any gaps around requirements for space and labour and propose solutions on how to close any gaps.
- Work with the Operations to understand forecasted requirements and refine this process to ensure they are receiving the most accurate information possible to make decisions around labour.
Project Management
- Manage and lead multiple projects using formal industrial engineering methodologies and project management.
- Direct, coordinate and track the activities of the projects to include Operations, IT, Sales and other departments.
- Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from contractors.
- Develop schedules and update the schedule on a regular basis. Identify milestones and critical path to ensure risk management and communication to stakeholders.
- Liaison between Engineering department and other project stakeholder groups including Operation, IT, Sales, and other departments.
Travel
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for business purposes.
- Must be mobile to work at multiple facilities both domestically and internationally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Senior Operation Engineer Ideal Candidate :
- A Bachelor’s degree or above in Industrial Engineering.
- Fluent in English (Japanese language skill would be advantageous).
- 3+ years of industrial engineer experience in a 3PL setting.
- Related experience in a warehouse environment that handles apparel.
- Have WMS experience.
- Six Sigma, Lean or 5S certified or trained is a plus.
- Excellent technical capabilities, inclusive of tier one WMS experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications, AutoCAD, including PowerBI and an expert in Excel.
