The Digital Transformation and IT Department (DigIT) supports the renowned researchers and administrative departments of Helmholtz Munich in a vibrant international environment with all aspects of a modern, forward-looking IT and office infrastructure and acts as a central driver of digital transformation. In collaboration with highly dynamic and innovative research teams, we provide a range of services and applications, from standard workstations to artificial intelligence and deep learning. The digital transformation is a strategic guiding principle for the development of the center, and we promote agile and digital skills throughout the center.
Your tasks
- Install, administer, and troubleshoot Linux servers and applications on them
- Work on the design, development and operation of GPU and compute cluster systems together with an interactive team
- Serve as the first point of contact for users for help or problem analysis and resolution
- Work with platform developers in porting projects to the HPC system
You will work in a vibrant IT department in close contact with the scientists of a world leading research center.
Your profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics or a related technical subject from a university with internationally recognized quality standards; alternatively, a completed vocational training in the profession of German IT specialist ("Fachinformatiker: in") with comprehensive knowledge and relevant further training
- At least 3 years of professional experience
- Good knowledge of the Linux operating system
- Good working knowledge of shell and script languages (e.g., bash, Python)
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Structured and systematic working style with a strong focus on customer needs as well as the ability to work in teams
Desirable qualifications
- Knowledge of German
- Special knowledge in one of these areas is a plus:
- HPC (e.g., Workload Scheduler, CUDA, Infiniband)
- Storage (e.g., Block, NAS, Object, Parallel)
- Cloud (e.g., Container, OpenStack, OpenShift, AWS, GCP, Azure)
