Location: Regensburg
We are seeking an Integration (Electronic and Mechanical) Design Engineer (f/m/d) with a strong background in designing medium voltage power electronics converters. You will work on the mechanical design and development of innovative and reliable converter solutions, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams of electrical and software engineers.
Your work field:
Create conceptual design and detailed design in 3D CAD for power converters, indoor and outdoor cabinets, containers, etc.
Prepare innovative own designs from specifications and create drawings and assembly details for flexible or solid busbars, cooling units etc.
Sizing, calculation, and specification of other mechanical equipment (pumps, heating, compressors, fans, auxiliary systems, etc.).
Provide well thought out practical engineering solutions to stack design, troubleshooting and identifying issues affecting cost and reliability before and after installation.
Conduct detailed thermal, structural, and vibration analyses with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to ensure designs meet product performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
Work closely with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
Preparation of BoM (bill of materials) for all the components and tracking the updates.
Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure cost-effective and manufacturable designs.
Preparation of design reports, drawings, and specifications.
Writing test specifications (Routine test, Type test) for mechanical tests based on standards.
Your profile:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSc or PhD).
Several years of successful working experience in electromechanical design
Proficiency in using 3D CAD software to design and optimize mechanical components and systems.
Previous design, development, and integration experience in power electronics converters and the surrounding system components (laminated busbars, cooling systems, enclosures etc.) with an appreciation for thermal, vibration and EMC management.
Strong understanding of pressure drop, flow rate, thermal effects, corrosion, etc.
Good knowledge of material costs and delivery time.
Good knowledge of industrial standards and regulations (vibration, degrees of protection, mechanical structures for electronic equipment, etc.) that are used for mechanical design of power converters.
Good understanding of grounding, shielding, insulation and coordination and EMC along with tolerance analysis.
Your next step - apply, of course!
