Our primary focuses at Fraunhofer IWES are on wind energy and hydrogen technologies. Our institute is home to more than 300 scientists and employees as well as over 100 students from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development at nine sites. We secure investments in technological developments through validation, shorten innovation cycles, accelerate certification procedures, and increase planning accuracy by means of innovative measurement methods.

This team is looking for you ...

You will be part of the group »Wind Measurement Campaign Operations« at our site in Bremerhaven. Our common goal is the realization of innovative methods and procedures for wind measurement in projects in research and industry. In the process, our focus is on the transfer of innovation into practical applications in both the offshore and onshore sectors. One prime example of this is our Fraunhofer IWES FLS (Floating Lidar System). Working in close cooperation with industrial partners, we adapt measuring concepts and their implementation to suit future requirements. At present, the team consists of four research associates. We support each other irrespective of our projects and backgrounds. A culture of open exchange and cooperation, even beyond team boundaries and sites, are particularly important to us.

What you will do

1. You will be involved in a variety of research- and development projects.
2. You will take over the management of international wind measuring projects, including planning offshore deployments for our Fraunhofer IWES FLS.
3. You will ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards as well as customs regulations.
4. You will compile necessary documentation and communicate with internal and external service providers to ensure suitable vessels are available.
5. You will continuously optimize internal processes regarding occupational health and safety regulations, quality, costs, and output.
6. You will assist in winning new industrial contracts for IWES.

What you bring to the table

1. You have completed your diploma or master’s degree in the field of Natural Sciences or Engineering.
2. You have experience in the wind industry and have worked on or managed wind measuring projects.
3. You are familiar with lidar buoys.
4. You have experience in occupational health and safety and know what needs to be paid attention to.
5. You are proficient in MS Sharepoint.
6. Good command of German and English is required.

The position is limited to 3 years. The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis, preferably close to full-time. Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally, Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
