Based in Berlin, Germany, the incumbent will be responsible for Lenovo’s interaction with government departments in Germany, primarily working and liaising to influence policies before they are adopted and focused on maintaining Lenovo’s ability to conduct business free from unnecessary or burdensome regulation or restrictions. Reporting to the Director, Government Relations for EMEA, the incumbent will closely interact with business leaders, the finance team, and Lenovo’s local and global legal team.
What will you do - Job Responsibilities (Essential functions and duties):
- Build and maintain relationships with key government stakeholders at all levels; evaluate the impact of key government guidelines on Lenovo’s business and advocate on Lenovo’s behalf to government decision makers.
- Align and engage with government to foster good working relationships and the adoption of Lenovo portfolio products in public markets.
- Liaise with government authorities on policy matters; build relationships and ensure regular communication with policymakers, government authorities, and advisors to understand the latest regulatory requirements.
- Identify emerging policy issues in Germany and the EU; engage with stakeholders on significant issues; monitor political and social events in Germany and work with local teams to mitigate operational risks.
- Work closely with Business Units to address their issues with various government departments.
- In collaboration with SMEs, handle issues related to manufacturing, marketing, regulatory, finance, taxation, imports/exports, and foreign direct investment.
- Provide inputs and influence policy/regulatory legislation that affects Lenovo’s business.
- Conduct stakeholder mapping at central, state, institutions, NGOs, and international organizations to prepare a blueprint for engagement and influence processes.
- Represent Lenovo at major industry trade associations; contribute to business intelligence in political and regulatory information and in-market competition.
- Participate as a technology industry leader in trade associations, coordinating with Lenovo Legal and regulatory agencies.
- Utilize knowledge of government FDI and incentive policies to benefit Lenovo’s business and long-term planning.
- Help implement technology product industry guidelines and processes as directed by Federal and State Governments.
Your Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Competencies (KSAC’s) - Job Requirements:
- 12+ years of demonstrated experience in managing public policy, government relations, advocacy, or international trade relations.
- A vast understanding of the German technology market, ideally in laptop/IT hardware/mobile phones/cloud computing.
- Keen understanding of the German political system, environment, and institutions, as well as the cultural landscape.
- Solid network with local policymakers and a working knowledge of the technology industry.
- Experience with government/policy schemes in Germany and the wider EU, and experience in the government or diplomatic sector.
