Position Title: HR Manager, Germany
Department: Human Resources (HR)
Reporting line: HR & Comms Director – CEE & DE


Location: Germany – Cologne or Frankfurt Oder

Position summary

  • HR Manager will act as the key partner and change agent to enable the achievement of business objectives, delivery of an excellent employee experience and the cultural transformation of the business.
  • Manage the HR and Communications team.
  • Manage the delivery of HR services.

Dimensions of the role

  • Providing HR support to Germany team covering c.300 employees over 3 locations.
  • Manage HR team of 7.
  • Member of Senior management team.
  • Work in collaboration with Global HR teams to implement AXA Partners Global strategy.

The key responsibilities for the HR Manager Germany position include:

  • Business Partnering: Working in cooperation with HRD CEE&DE with leadership to align HR delivery with business strategy, identifying business issues and building solutions, developing strategic workforce plans, and managing HR events and communication plans.
  • Resourcing, Talent Performance & Development: Defining talent acquisition strategies, implementing workforce plans, supporting business leaders, and performing learning needs analysis.
  • Culture and Engagement: Fostering a culture aligned with core values, delivering culture and engagement initiatives, driving corporate responsibility, and ensuring completion of performance management.
  • Providing HR services: Ensuring effective HR service provision, supporting HR transformation activities, and implementing key HR projects.
  • Team Leadership: Follow the set direction for the team, manage the HR team structure, and provide guidance and management to employees.
  • Social Relations: Manage the social and employee relations environment, ensure effective HR policies and guidance, coach business leaders on employee relations issues, and oversee the relationship with the Works Council.

The required skills and experience for this role include:

  • Strong business acumen combined with excellent HR knowledge across all HR functions.
  • Ability to operate as a trusted partner with business leaders, bringing strategic insights, challenging, and influencing effectively.
  • Capability to develop solutions and influence the business.
  • Excellent relationship, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to connect with and influence a diverse range of people and cultures.
  • Proficiency in supporting business leaders and line managers in their development.
  • Comfort in working within a matrix environment and achieving results through collaboration.
  • Exceptional people leadership skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, and develop HR and communications teams.
  • Competence in analyzing and utilizing data and insights to identify business and people-related issues, supporting effective decision-making.
  • A university degree and minimum of 5 years' experience managing an HR team.
  • Experience in an international context is preferred.
  • Fluency in German and English, both oral and written.
