In this role, you will use your programming and numerical skills to improve aerodynamic design tools and CFD solvers. You will analyze aerothermal results to support Rolls-Royce product designs and contribute to technology development projects. You’ll also collaborate with global teams and external partners to drive innovation.

It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What You Will Be Doing

With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to:

1. Use your numerical methods and programming skills to maintain and extend aerodynamic design tools, CFD solvers (incl. pre/post tools), and digitalization methods.
2. Generate, analyse and interpret aerothermal results in support of the design of Rolls-Royce products.
3. Contribute to our Aerothermal methods capability acquisition strategies.
4. Define and support R&T projects for technology developments with universities and sub-contractors.
5. Possess good stakeholder management skills and an openness to work in global teams.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

1. An Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or related Physics or Mathematics.
2. Profound knowledge of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and thermodynamics.
3. Strong experience in aerothermal methods development and application as well as the utilization of digitalization tools, in particular very good C++ and Python programming skills.
4. The ability to work collaboratively with local and global teams.

Preferred

1. Advanced degrees such as a PhD.
2. Good track record of developing aerothermal methods for research and production.
3. Fluent German speaking to support interaction with German R&T funding authorities.
