English Camp Counselor (m/w/d) Bremen

Do you have experience with child care, au pairing, tutoring or teaching? What are you waiting for? We need you!
We are expanding our dynamic, international team and need freelance counselors (m/w/d) to work at our English language camps across Germany (North and Baltic Sea coasts, Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hessen, Bavaria, etc).

Oskar lernt Englisch has been offering English language camps in Germany since 2004 for children between the ages of 6 and 15 looking to gain confidence in their English. We fuse structured English lessons with active and informal settings. We know that learning isn’t just something you do in a classroom!

At Oskar lernt Englisch we want to make room for the adventurous spirit that is all too often constrained by stuffy classrooms and overly standardized learning. Instead, we take our campers to climb through treetops, windsurf the waves of the North sea, and play capture the flag to the sound of cowbells ringing through the black forest. We’ll also jump into a variety of creative processes, get groovy with some cool dance moves, or push the limits of storytelling through the medium of film - all in English of course! We hope to inspire and create an accessible environment to learn English in, combining the expert knowledge of English speakers who are energetic, empathetic, and culturally diverse with an adventure-packed environment. We don’t just want to teach English, but also make memories with new friends! :)

Camp life can be pretty demanding, which is why we try to accommodate and provide for your needs while you’re out there swinging in the tree-tops or learning to shoot arrows like Robin Hood. In addition to connecting with other incredible counselors from all walks of life, and seeing all of the beautiful locations and unique pockets of history and culture that Germany has to offer, we’ll also throw in a few perks:

• Travel, room, and board are paid for on all overnight camps.
• Working a day camp (these are ONLY in Berlin)? We’ll give you a travel stipend and provide you with lunch.
• We’ll pay for your first aid certification.
• Access to both our digital and physical library of teaching resources.
• Want to work on your teaching skills? We offer free teacher development seminars.
• Curious about who else works at OLE? Join us at one of our staff pizza and beer get-togethers!
• You’ll also get regular pay increases the more camps you do!

Deine Aufgaben:

Your responsibilities will include:

• Seasonal freelance work (during school holidays)
• Teaching English in the mornings
• Supervision of children during mealtimes
• Running workshops/sports/activities
• Bringing your electric energy and enthusiasm to camp!

Das sind unsere Anforderungen:

• Fluent in English (C1/C2)
• Teaching experience, and/or experience working with children
• A strong sense of responsibility and empathy towards others, including children
• Availability to work a minimum of 4 weeks per year, during the Easter, Summer or Autumn school holidays. Our main focus is always on finding brilliant staff for the next upcoming season, so if you are only interested in working during the summer, please indicate this in your application - we promise we will still review your application!
• Availability to complete online and in-person training
• Availability to attend a first aid course
• Police check for working with children
• A valid work permit for freelance work in Germany (if applicable)
• 18 years of age or older

We know interviews can be nerve-wracking experiences. Our goal is to find individuals who are just as excited as we are to get out on camp and have an enriching, adventure-filled, (English) learning experience with our campers. However, in our search for the perfect counselor, we do understand that the interview isn’t just about us getting to know you, but as much a chance for you to make sure we’re the right fit for you too! • Once the hard part is over, we will let you know the outcome of the interview. Regardless of the result you will hear from us (ghosting is lame).
• Once the formalities are out of the way, we’ll help you with the paperwork (onboarding), and get you out on camp ASAP!
