Business Development Director (Oncology)

Overview:
Our client, a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry, is seeking a Business Development Director to join their team in Germany, focused on the oncology therapeutic area. This is a key leadership role where you will be responsible for identifying and capitalizing on business development opportunities within the oncology space, forging strategic partnerships, and driving the company’s growth in this highly dynamic market. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in oncology business development, along with a strong track record of successful partnerships, licensing, and strategic alliances in the pharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the business development strategy specifically for oncology, identifying new market opportunities, licensing deals, and partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and healthcare organizations.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders in the oncology space, including biotech firms, research institutions, and oncologists.
- Manage the entire business development process, from identifying new drug candidates to negotiation and deal execution, ensuring alignment with the company’s broader oncology pipeline strategy.
- Work closely with internal teams (R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial) to assess and integrate new oncology treatments into the company’s portfolio.
- Evaluate emerging oncology trends, new therapeutic targets, and innovative technologies to identify opportunities for expansion.
- Lead negotiations for licensing, acquisition, and collaboration agreements in oncology, ensuring favourable terms and optimal alignment with corporate objectives.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings within the oncology community to raise the company’s profile and strengthen strategic alliances.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, with a specific focus on oncology, within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
- In-depth knowledge of oncology drug development, clinical trial processes, regulatory considerations, and commercialization strategies.
- Proven experience in negotiating and securing high-value partnerships, licensing agreements, and strategic collaborations within the oncology sector.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to identify, assess, and act on emerging trends in the oncology space.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across global teams.
- Fluency in English and German is required; additional languages are an advantage.
