Deputy Head of Secondary School
Starting: August 1, 2025

Contract Type: 2 years
- Full-time position, 2-year appointment
- 28 release lessons bi-weekly, 5.000 € annual stipend
- The position comes with a teaching component
Responsibilities:
1. Operational and Section Development Leadership
- Be highly visible and supportive inside and outside classrooms and at school events
- Model and promote positive behaviors
- Maintain oversight of students, such as student behavior, late work, punctuality and attendance and academic concerns, liaising with teachers, parents and Head of Section as necessary, developing appropriate interventions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
- Support the work of the Head of Section and Section Counselor(s) pertaining to student concerns, prioritizing and actioning/referring on as necessary
- Support the Head of Section and Head of Student Wellbeing and Safeguarding with the implementation of the pastoral program, including the advisory program, transitions (including course choices), student progress meetings and any other initiatives in this area
- Collaborate with the IB programme coordinators to foster student agency, action and engagement
- Oversee the leadership, running and training of the Student Council and other student agency, action and engagements initiatives
- Schedule and oversee student led assemblies and student community events
- Support Head of Section to lead the section in close liaison with all stakeholders, in alignment with the FIS values and guiding statements
- Support Head of Section in organizing the day to day running of the section, including calendar, field trips, events, exams, conferences, reporting, daily schedule, supervision of duties, emergency cover, internship applications, transcript management, communicating section relevant topics, and other operational systems
- Support with the development of school culture by in implementing and monitoring section relevant policies
- Deputize in the absence of Head of Section
- Organize and oversee standardized testing
- Support Head of Section in communicating section relevant topics
2. Teaching
- Teach and manage the educational program relevant to subject and grade level(s) based on the FIS curriculum and as required by the Head of School

- Proven successful leadership experience and expertise
- Proven organizational skills
- Exceptional communication skills

- Previous experience in international schools
- Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders
- Ability to handle complexity and deal with frustration
