You will become part of a multi-disciplinary team realizing end-to-end AI solutions for Covestro which really make a difference in all parts of the company, may it be production, supply chain, support processes or other. Your co-workers will be data scientists, machine learning engineers and AI consultants. The use cases will be realized in close cooperation with subject matter experts from various domains.

In addition to our diverse benefits, you can expect an attractive starting salary of between €87,200/year plus variable component and €105,900/year plus variable component for a full-time position. The starting salary depends on your qualifications and professional experience.

Your tasks and responsibilities in detail:

1. You will identify and develop data science use cases, which bring an economic benefit for Covestro.
2. You will have the responsibility of implementing data science use cases in various domains, such as production, sales/marketing, and finance. This will require close collaboration with business experts and colleagues from machine learning engineering.
3. You will play a crucial part throughout the entire lifecycle of data science products, including exploratory data analyses, designing and implementing prototypes, minimum viable products, and supporting products in the operational phase of the lifecycle.
4. You will be responsible for selecting and optimizing suitable methods from statistical modelling, machine learning and artificial intelligence for your specific use case.
5. In close collaboration with the Machine Learning Engineers, you will actively contribute to define requirements for the data processing architecture and technology.
6. Additionally, you will research, assess, and evaluate proposals from external solution providers and consultancies in terms of their effectiveness and usefulness.

What you offer:

1. You hold a university degree (pref. Master or PhD) in statistics, data science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline, with several years of experience in the data science domain in an international environment and with virtual teams.
2. You are fluent in R or Python and experienced in applying time series forecasts, XGBoost and Random Forest models, Deep Learning and Bayesian models.
3. You are interested in learning from subject matter experts from various domains.
4. The ability to convince, explain and present to colleagues from different fields and different managerial levels is among your key competencies.
5. You are comfortable with working in a fluent, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.
6. Fluent English skills, spoken and written, as well as willingness and ability to travel internationally, round up your profile.
