Crop Scientist (Munich)

Location: Munich, Germany.

About The Role:

SERA is looking for a passionate and committed Crop Scientist to join our team. Leveraging your technical expertise in plant physiology and horticulture, along with a keen understanding of the challenges faced by growers, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between grower needs and what our product offers. Your responsibilities will encompass identifying new opportunities, developing models, and creating data features that offer valuable insights to growers. Collaboration with software engineers will be a key aspect of translating these features seamlessly into our platform.

Responsibilities:

• Ownership, capability to work independently, build things and grow the team.
• Capture customer requirements and feedback.
• Identification of automation possibilities.
• Design on-boarding process for customers and partners / crop experts.
• Advise customers on growth strategies for different types of crops, greenhouses and climates.
• Understand which technology / model is best suited for delivering parts of our Roadmap, such as yield forecasting, climate simulation, disease detection etc.
• Data analysis on greenhouse and plant data.
• Development of models and visualizations.

Qualifications:

• Plant physiology, crop physiology, horticultural or plant science experience, focus on vegetables.
• Practical experience with greenhouses in different geographies, understanding of plant production systems.
• Experience with climate computers, such as Priva, Hoogendoorn, Ridder.
• Data analysis using climate and plant data.
• Horticulture advisory experience.
