Corporate Underwriter - NatCat Accumulation Risk Management (m/f/d)*
Corporate Underwriting is responsible for the risk management function for underwriting risks as well as the cross-divisional business support function to enable and ensure risk-adequate underwriting in the global reinsurance segment. The section “NatCat Accumulation Risk Management” is accountable for developing modelling standards and for quantifying, monitoring and managing natural catastrophe (NatCat) risks. The team also supports the business units in taking advantage of specific business opportunities.
To complement our team of experts in this area, we are looking for an enthusiastic Corporate Underwriter who is motivated by NatCat modelling and providing guidance to a team of experts in this area. You will be able to shape the underlying concepts of the NatCat business and NatCat models across Munich Re Group.
Your Job
- Development or enhancement of concepts, methods, tools and guidelines to identify, quantify and monitor NatCat risks for single participations as well as for the whole Munich Re portfolio
- Coordination and execution of annual portfolio roll-ups as input for the Munich Re Group capital model and the post-event loss estimation process
- Supporting internal processes for capacity steering and accumulation budget reporting to various stakeholders
- Consulting operational units on NatCat Risk Management topics and monitoring of accumulations as well as supporting or conducting internal trainings
- Leading or supporting projects related to NatCat risk management and accumulation control and contribution to the annual planning process
- Close cooperation with various internal stakeholders (e.g. Integrated Risk Management, Reserving, Controlling) and with business units including the international organization
Your Profile
- Degree in mathematics, statistics, natural sciences or equivalent qualification
- Experience and expertise in risk management or underwriting or practical experience in cat modelling (RMS Risklink, RMS Risk Modeler, AIR/Verisk) beneficial
- General understanding of natural catastrophe accumulation risks in Non-Life reinsurance or primary insurance
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills; working knowledge of SQL and programming skills (Python, Matlab, R) would be beneficial
- High level of motivation in acquiring expert knowledge and tool know-how
- Methodological, didactical and intercultural competencies as well as conflict management skills to cope with complex challenges
- Team player with good networking skills
- Very good command of English language (written and spoken)
