At the Bavarian State Office for the Environment, the Augsburg office has a vacancy for the department

6 "Hydraulic Engineering, Flood Protection, Water Protection" in Department 65 "Protection and

Management of Surface Waters" from 01.07.2025 the following position is to be filled for a limited period until 30.04.2027:

Computer scientist or research assistant with relevant additional qualifications or professional experience in information technology

for the area of specialist applications in water management.

Unit 65 "Protection and management of surface waters" fulfills

strategic tasks in the monitoring of wastewater facilities in the Bavarian Water Management Administration. This is done, among other things, through the further development and operation of a data processing system for data management for data from the monitoring of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. The data processing system is the specialized application "Datenverbund Abwasser Bayern (DABay)". We are looking for an employee with relevant experience in the operation of databases and web-based IT systems to operate and further develop our specialist application. You will actively support the implementation of our new program enhancements and play an important role in the quality assurance of environmental data and its evaluation.

Your tasks

• Technical support of the Bavarian Wastewater Data Network (DABay) in the areas of "basic structure", "master data", "history", "lists"; support of the interfaces (e.g. private laboratory, laboratory information systems)
• Database evaluations on the basis of SQL
• Support for the GISterm++ evaluation program, expansion of the DABay query tool
• Quality assurance (data cleansing / maintenance, e.g. for new analysis methods, cost allocation)
• DABay support (in a team)
• Support for the further technical development of DABay

Our requirements for you

• University degree (diploma or master's degree) in the field of computer science or environment or a comparable degree
• Business fluent in German (written and oral)
• Ability to present complex issues precisely and clearly
• Experience in dealing with databases
• Experience in dealing with complex IT applications is an advantage
• Practical SQL knowledge is desirable
• Ability to work in a team, commitment, perseverance, open-mindedness for new tasks and the willingness to work constructively with water management and district administrative authorities, private experts as well as companies and associations are required
• Ability to work in a structured and conceptual manner
• Independent and goal-oriented work as well as independent development of solutions
