The Compliance Counsel will play a critical role in ensuring that the company adheres to legal standards and internal policies. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Compliance, the Compliance Counsel will be responsible, under broad guidance, for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance programs, conducting regulatory research, and advising on legal risks. The individual will serve as a key advisor to various business units on regulatory matters and ensure that the company operates in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Job Requirements:
Compliance Program and Processes Development:
Assist in the design, implementation, and management of the company’s global compliance programs, ensuring alignment with current laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Update and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring they are up to date and in compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations.
Analysis, evaluation, development and optimization of business processes and measures as well as implementation and implementation control regarding the effectiveness of our group-wide compliance management system
Legal Research & Risk Assessment:
Conduct research on new and existing regulatory requirements, including industry-specific regulations, export control & sanctions, supply chain act, anti-bribery laws, anti-corruption, antitrust law, anti-money laundering (AML), GDPR, and other compliance relevant regulations.
Assess potential risks related to regulatory non-compliance, and provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risks as a Compliance advisor for all business units at ATD.
Training & Communication:
Develop and implement face to face and online compliance training courses to employees across all levels of the organization to raise awareness of compliance issues.
Draft clear and concise compliance-related communications for internal use to promote awareness and understanding of compliance requirements.
Internal Investigations:
Lead or assist in internal investigations related to compliance issues, ethics violations, or potential legal violations, including gathering and reviewing documents, interviewing witnesses, and preparing reports.
Recommend and implement corrective actions where necessary.
When required ensure the management of external lawyers
Advisory Role:
Provide counsel and guidance to various business units and departments on legal and regulatory compliance matters.
Work closely with business leaders to ensure compliance considerations are integrated into operational decision-making processes.
Cross-functional support and advice on internal compliance-related projects and business cases, negotiation of compliance related contract clauses
Monitoring & Reporting:
Monitor and audit the effectiveness of compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
Prepare regular reports for the VP of Compliance and senior management on compliance activities, risk assessments, and recommendations for improvement.
External Regulatory Interaction:
Serve as a liaison between the company and external regulators, managing regulatory inquiries, inspections, and audits.
Coordinate responses to regulatory investigations and enforcement actions.
Job Qualifications:
German certified lawyer, 1-2 years of work experience
Ability to analyze complex issues and provide clear, practical solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal language into actionable guidance.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
High ethical standards, discretion, loyalty and integrity, enthusiasm for people, discretion, thoroughness, and reliability
Ability to work in both ways, cross-functionally as well as interculturally, recognize and name problems and risks and trust in finding solutions solving them in the best interests of the company
Skill in dealing with challenging issues, diverse stakeholders, and complex business setups
Work as part of a dynamic team
Fond knowledge of Google and MS Office applications
Very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken; additional language skills (Czech, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian) would be an advantage
Willingness to travel occasionally and seek further education
