Cloud Software Engineer 5

Responsibilities:

Provide cloud software research, development, and engineering services to include requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis/resolution.

The Level 5 Cloud Software Engineer shall possess the following capabilities:

1. Design, implement, integrate and test new features and capabilities for cloud native service offerings.
2. Develop and design web-based user interfaces to support search and presentation of operational data.
3. Develop web services that provide gRPC and REST-based APIs.
4. Develop automation software for automatic PKI certificate creation from an API.
5. Work with, deploy, integrate with the greater system ecosystem, and push software changes upstream for SQL, NoSQL, in-memory, and S3 compatible object store technologies.
6. Work with service mesh technologies like Istio, Linkerd.
7. Work with pub/sub technologies such as Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ.
8. Work with automation technologies such as Ansible, Bash, and Go.
9. Work with metrics and monitoring technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana.
10. Work with logging and monitoring technologies such as Fluentd, ElasticSearch, Kibana.
11. Work with distributed network tracing technologies such as Jaeger, Open Tracing.
12. Work with cloud package managed systems.
13. Work with cloud native container security monitoring solutions.
14. Work with CI/CD pipelines & Git Ops practices.
15. Work with network mesh technologies.
16. Work with multiple cloud vendors and private cloud industry solutions.
17. Work with container orchestration native policy enforcement technologies.
18. Work with cloud and Kubernetes native server-less capabilities enforcement technologies.
19. Work with in-memory large scale database technologies.
20. Work with network proxy technologies.

Qualifications:

With the most recent experience being no more than (1.5) years past, a minimum of sixteen (16) years of experience programming with at least one (1) object-oriented language, such as Java, Python, C++, or Go, or sixteen (16) years of experience building large platforms by integrating open source or commercial software together with automation scripting.

Demonstrated experience designing and developing applications in a Linux operating environment.

5 years functional experience with containerization technologies like Docker.

8 years functional experience deploying applications to container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.

An additional two (2) years of experience may be substituted for all minimum requirements listed above with an active Certified Kubernetes Application Developer status.

An additional two (2) years of experience may be substituted for all minimum requirements listed above with an active Certified Kubernetes Administrator status.

An additional one (1) year of experience may be substituted for all minimum requirements listed above with a status of an Open Source project maintainer in open industry.
