Purpose of the role:
- Lead the CMA CGM Germany Cluster Maritime, Port, Operations and Logistics strategies, in close collaboration with the General Manager of the CMA CGM Germany & Cluster to support current and future business needs.
- Plan and define short, medium and long-term goals for the Operations & Logistics teams, in conjunction with Regional Office and Head Office.
- Optimise processes to improve the efficiency of the business/cluster, ensuring pre-defined key performance indicators.
- Responsible for efficiency and security of Group assets.
- Ensuring Group operations are managed in a cost-effective manner. Identify and develop Landside projects, which are aligned with the Company’s overall German Cluster growth strategy.
- Leading the operations & logistics teams to achieve enhanced results, and embedding the company’s employee engagement culture.
Your responsibilities:
- Plan, direct and oversee Company’s current operational & logistics policies, rules, initiatives and goals and ensure smooth integration of new initiatives for all to follow in the company.
- Define and document operational & logistics procedures, ensuring adherence from employees.
- Develop processes and procedures to work towards a ‘One Company’ approach.
- Ensure understanding of, and smooth implementation of current and forthcoming industry/company rules and regulations that may have an impact both in terms of cost and working practices.
- Ensure timely delivery of all short, medium and long-term projects.
- Work closely with service providers and vendors to ensure they are operating to keep efficiency in the network, with any shortcoming being addressed straight away.
- Ensure that reporting mechanisms are in place to monitor efficiency of vendors.
- Ensuring any adverse cost impact due to network inefficiency is addressed straight away to all stakeholders.
- Actively address any shortcomings that may have an adverse impact on our operational performance, service to our customers and cost to our system.
- Build a culture where new initiatives are encouraged and appreciated at all levels.
- Define & review roles and responsibility of Operations Team Leaders & Managers, ensuring alignment with departmental and business objectives.
- Mentor, coach and develop Operational Managers and talent within the company, to support business needs and to provide stability in the Operations structure.
- Promote a culture of high performance from Operations employees, through the effective application of robust performance management, effectively managing expectations and performance issues to ensure that employees work well together and are fully engaged.
- Carry out regular performance appraisals, and address issues promptly and effectively.
- Ensure effective cross-functional relationships with executive leadership team colleagues to promote an engaged and streamlined approach to leading the business.
- Ensure communication and coordination with all relevant CMA CGM Head Office functions.
- Responsible for ensuring that the department/team operates in accordance with company policies and procedures in respect of Health and Safety, in order to ensure the safety of employees and visitors.
You bring aboard:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in business administration or in shipping or logistics.
- A minimum of 10 years of proven operational/industry/relevant experience at a senior level.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven track record of leadership in cross-functional/regional positions (international experience advantageous, but not essential).
- Project management expertise, with proven track record of timely delivery.
- Highly developed problem identification and solving skills to ensure the optimal solution is reached.
- Decision making/good and proven negotiation skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders.
- Demonstrable People leadership and management experience, with proven ability to instil a culture of high performance within teams.
